This is a mean green little machine. cEDH is full of decks that want to combo faster than us, or out-aggro us, or grind us down with control. We're trying to out-tempo them all until we can use one of those strategies ourselves.

First: Legolas gets incidentally big. It happens, and in the course of you playing the game, you're going to pick off everybody's dorks and value creatures, creating a massive boi to swing in with. The real issue is protecting him.

In mono-green, card advantage is also a major issue. Recycle is an all-star for our strategy, but it's expensive; there's no way you're getting it on the board before turn three or four, so the key in the early game is getting Legolas out, getting him protection, and taking over the board. If they play a creature, we may not be able to counter it, but he'll let us kill it. We have to grind them down, making sure they can't pick off our all-star player in the process.

Winter Orb can be an all-star with enough dorks on board to give consistent mana. Green has a surprisingly successful time laying down stax pieces. Defending them...not so much, but that's not the point. If they waste a removal spell on Collector Ouphe or Root Maze, then that's removal not aimed out our commander's silky locks. We want as much of that as possible...because at the end of the day, he's going to kill 'em dead.
