Going from a control to a more aggro direction —June 12, 2017
While control has worked out fairly well, I've noticed that going aggro has actually deterred people from attacking me as it puts them on the defensive. This has won me more games than sitting back and react. Therefore I have decided to shift the deck's direction towards more aggro. The following are changes made to the deck:
- Tweaked the ramp package by adding Mana Vault over Expedition Map
- Removed the signature Kormus Bell combo as the piece alone is too clunky and is a dead draw
- Added Aggravated Assault for an infinite combat combo with Sword of Feast and Famine
- Added Fireshrieker as it gives the swords extra triggers and provides deathtouchers first strike
- Added Heliod, God of the Sun as it provides everyone with vigilance (everyone can now attack and defend) and is a mana sink for tokens
- Reduced sunforger package to a more compact one
- Replaced Phyrexian Arena with Tymna the Weaver as I realized I'm in the red zone more often than not. In addition, Tymna combos with Aggravated Assault (ability to draw two cards or more instead)
Will be testing the above changes out to see how it goes - As they say, "the best defense is a good offense".

Love the build and ideas for Marchesa Enral! I just built her similarly and it's a blast. I opted to try luminarch ascension as a game ender. I know that is something of a contentious topic and even though it can make you a target it seems like a very solid and flavorful wincon as it has some synergy with Solitary Confinement and a card which, though a little clunky, is very fun with monarch: Delaying Shield. Thanks again!

I found that Luminarch Ascension did the opposite of what I wanted in my Queen Marchesa: Politics, Aikido, and Control deck. It was always a "Hey, look at me." card that drew attention, it often died to removal, which may seem like it is great at being removal bait, but even after it is gone, people remember, and I continued to draw hate. It was rarely active, and it never just swung a game around in short order. I removed it and never looked back. I will be curious what you find.
