Legion of the Sword ($20 Beatstick)

Modern Aggro Budget Humans Mono-White Tribal Weenie

DI77ON

Sideboard

Maybeboard

Like humans, but not paying for them? This deck was created on a budget for casual play (no card over $1). In total the paper cost $18.50 from tcgplayer.com (1.2 TIX for MTGO)

The deck plays similarly to other white weenie decks: get as many human warriors out as fast as possible and try to overwhelm your opponent. Use their abilities to pump each other up, and hope you don't encounter anything you can't handle

3 Possible Strategies

Example Game 1

  1. Turn 1 - Land, cast Devoted Retainer
  2. Turn 2 - Land, cast Hand of Honor - Swing for 2 dmg w/ Bushido (1 dmg w/o Bushido)
  3. Turn 3 - Land, cast Accorder Paladin and Boros Elite - Swing for 5 dmg w/ Bushido (3 dmg w/o Bushido)
  4. Turn 4 - Land, cast Hope Against Hope on the Hand of Honor - Swing for 18 dmg w/ Bushido (16 dmg w/o Bushido)

Example Game 2

  1. Turn 1 - Land, cast Boros Elite
  2. Turn 2 - Land, cast Consul's Lieutenant - Swing for 1
  3. Turn 3 - Land, cast Silverblade Paladin and Boros Elite, soul-bond with Boros - Swing for 3, get Renown on Consul's Lieutenant
  4. Turn 4 - Land, cast Sigiled Paladin and another Boros Elite - Swing for 17 dmg (14 total double-strike from Boros/Silverblade and 3 first-strike from Consul's)
  5. Turn 5 - cast Brave the Elements against opponents main color - Swing for 24 dmg

Example Game 3

  1. Turn 1 - Land, cast Akrasan Squire
  2. Turn 2 - Land, cast Sigiled Paladin - Swing for 3
  3. Turn 3 - Land, cast Silverblade Paladin and soul bond with Sigiled Paladin - Swing for 8 double strike dmg
  4. Turn 4 - Land, cast Boros Elite, Accorder Paladin, and Bonds of Faith on Sigiled Paladin - Swing for 12 double strike dmg
  5. Turn 5 - Cast Hope Against Hope on Sigiled Paladin, Brave the Elements - Swing for 22 double strike dmg with protection OR attack with everything and swing for 20 dmg and protection

Obviously those are ideal draws, but you can see how fast the deck ramps. Turns 4 and 5 become your home run innings, as Boros Elite and Accorder Paladin can finally swing with 3 attacking creatures, and Silverblade Paladin's soul-bonded double-strike can hit as well.

There are much better white humans, spells, and decks out there, but the goal was to only buy used cards <$1 (near-mint)

Suggestions

Updates Add

The best defense is a good offense. Legion of the Sword sells out for quick offense at the cost of high power creatures.

I want to tool the sideboard to that at any time I can tailor the deck to be "Protection" or "Control" oriented.
