This is a very fair deck. The only thing helping it in unfair match ups is turn one hand disruption. There are hands that are good against combo, there's hands good against aggro, and hands packed with value, but it isn't the best at any of these match ups. But it is one of the best eventuality decks, like tron, but not as susceptible to hate. TLDR Mono Black is a very middling deck, dependent on how good T1HD is. Not the best, but always solid.

My Mono Black Devotion list. There is actually a good deal of variation you can go with, some lists don't run Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, some don't run Phyrexian Obliterator, but all Mono Black Devotion decks run Gray Merchant of Asphodel. There are no real intricacies, just discard spells and a good curve.

Sideboard doesn't have a ton of options. Black just cant get rid of Artifacts. Night of Souls' Betrayal for Affinity kind of helps. We dont care about our opponents' Ensnaring Bridges, because we just win through them if the game stalls. For that reason we also just have 3 in sideboard for match ups we can't win early. Like Humans, we become Hellbent quickly with this deck, usually the only cards that can get stuck in hand is Gray Merchant of Asphodel, but if we have him in hand we're probably winning anyway soon as we can cast him. So board out a few top end cards like Phyrexian Arena and win eventually with Gray Merchant of Asphodel. Curious how good this will be. Leyline for obvious reasons. This deck doesn't interact with Storm so Damping Sphere even though its a nonbo with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.
