Everyone is excited about the new Lazav, but the old one is still pretty great.

Lazav, Dimir Mastermind is a hexproof shapeshifter that can take the form of any creature put into an opponent's graveyard, except he's still Lazav and still has hexproof.

The creatures in the deck are mostly for redundancy on these two abilities. Either they have (or can have) hexproof and can be bogled up for damage/card draw/etc. or they are clones that can copy one of your hexproof creatures and work the same way.

The clones, however, offer a little bit of extra tech. They are more than extra bogles. Usually UB decks don't have any way to deal with artifacts and enchantments. However, any of your ETB clones that can copy an opponent's creature can mimic those creatures' ETB effects. So if you need to deal with artifacts and enchantments, just copy your opponent's Reclamation Sage , Knight of Autumn , or Acidic Slime . This goes for any other needed effect too.

The only creatures that are exceptions are Archaeomancer and Possessed Skaab , but their spell recursion is too good to pass up. All you really need them to do is enter the battlefield, so it isn't a big deal if your opponents take them out after that.

The rest of the deck is 1) enchantments to bogle up your hexproof creatures, 2) removal and counterspells to control the board, and 3) ramp and card draw to keep the deck going.

Super cheap and super fun.
