Are you ready to ROCK!

Welcome to Land Aid 2017! I hope you all are enjoying the show. Next up, is Atraxa, Praetors' Voice with her crew, the Storm Crows!

Banding . . . why not?

To understand banding, there is a video below of a judge explaining the mechanic in full detail. I am sure there are those who would laugh at this deck for using banding, but Musicians, like myself, know that banding is a great mechanic once fully understood.

The Creation

This deck started as a Boros banding deck with the Boros God, Iroas, God of Victory, as the commander for the potential combos with banding and battalion. However, the deck didn't feel right when I was testing it. The synergy between banding and battlion did not seem strong enough to satisfy me. I changed the deck into a Bant banding deck with one of the classic elder dragons, Arcades Sabboth, at head command. I decided to combo banding with the bolster ability since most banding creatures are small and would be targeted by bolster. The deck played better and felt satisfying. Then, Commander 2016 introduced Atraxa, Praetors' Voice. This is my third attempt at making a banding EDH deck. I am taking what I have learned from the bolster ability and focusing more on cards that give +1/+1 counters to more creatures. I found the Witch-Maw Nephilim colours to be the best for banding because of providing the band members, providing the ramp, and the twins, / , providing control over the mosh pit. is not included because of Atraxa's strength and there is only one red banding creature, Nalathni Dragon, which is a promo card from Dragon Con '94. Now that we have the colours, the deck was pretty simple to build.

How the Deck Works

It may take several games to fulling understand the deck. This deck is built like a counters deck with the additional benefit of the banding ability. You'll cast small creatures that will quickly ramp into largely creatures. In combat, utilize the banding ability to protect your creatures by distributing the damage your band takes accordingly. Out of combat, focus on building up your creatures with counters and use removal for cards that your opponents have that are problems or will become problems. Combos with the +1/+1 counters will occur as your field progresses.

If you wish to spend the money for it, then you can exchange some of the cards in this deck with these more expensive cards.

I can't hear you!

If anybody has suggestions on improving this deck, then post in the comments below. I hope everyone enjoys this deck as much as I do. I have spent a large amount of time testing and trying cards to create the "perfect" deck, but there is always room for improvement.

Updates Add

Hope you all are having a great time, so far! We got some new additions to the band.

This update I have added new groupies for the deck. They should improve the experience here at Land Aid. I escorted the party poopers that have a similar role to the cards I have added to the exit.

The Wall of Kelp will make wall token that can have banding. Ichor Rats produces poison counters like Phyrexian Hydra, but it has an immediate impact. Sage of Hours proves strong, especially in decks like this, to replace Genesis Hydra seems odd about first but Fathom Mage creates draw. Plus, I know having the extra turns could easily prove victory.
