The Lady of the Mole Hill

This is my Hyper-budget Lady of the Mountain deck.

It was designed to be an incredibly budget conscious EDH deck along with other cheap generals with the end goal of giving them to new players at the table.

Design Goals/Philosophy- Every card in the deck should be close to or be less than 30 cents. (.30$) The only exception is the general, who should be roughly <1$(though cheaper is better). I use TCGplayer prices for this(NM/LP, whatever edition is cheapest). The goal is to be in a sub 15$ range for the entire deck, not counting any lands.

The cards should be relatively easy to understand and play. I find that the Commander decks are too complicated for players new to the game, but EDH is a format that is great for new players since it has a longer, casual shelf-life. These decks are meant to rectify that.

The decks should be somewhat competitive. Each should be strong enough to sit at a multiplayer table and have a chance to win.

Suggestions, comments, and upvotes are loved! Please be mindful with suggestions on card costs( $ )

I love your approach to building here. I love budget. If you don't mind, I'll likely be building some of these decks. I play with my boys mostly right now, and the simpler they are, the better for my youngest, for sure, and even for me. This way, I'll have a good-sized deck library.

+1, I'll be working on this one! Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks bushido_man96 ! They were made for that purpose really(I give them out to new players at the table at events or gaming stores sometimes), so have at! Thanks for all the upvotes. Glad you enjoy them!

Love it. Had to trim some just so it wasn't a huge card-dump.
Taurean Mauler - gets very big, and helps players learn to pay attention to triggers
Silklash Spider - anti-flyers
Valley Rannet - smooth land plays
Krosan Tusker - great value Hoard-Smelter Dragon - utility + big threat
Garruk's Packleader - excellent value with your creatures
Flametongue Kavu - ease of use + utility
Acidic Slime - ditto
Fires of Yavimaya - haste is clutch for you
Hull Breach - some much needed utility

Thanks shaistyone! Right now I'm using Racecourse Fury rather than Fires just because it's so budget, and less likely to get dumped on by enchantment hate. The buff might be worth it. Already have Hull Breach in there. Swapped in Garruk's Packleader. Lay of the Land does duty for the Tusker and Rannet while keeping the mana curve low IMO. I didn't know Acidic Slime was so cheap, but I dunno what to swap in for it so for the moment it's gonna sit on the maybeboard. Everything else is either slightly out of budget or I'd rather keep the giant tribal in instead.

I think you could swap Acidic Slime with Giantbaiting and come out ahead. Giantbaiting has some value, but its a one-use spell that creates a one-use token or two, and I think the Slime has a bit more value. Just my opinion, though.

Thanks @ Diakaine ! Upvotes and comments are always appreciated :D

(and yes, foiling it out becomes surprisingly cheap, though you may want to be careful as some of the older cards don't have foils :P)

I love your Budget deck ideas. :P

They're surprisingly effective as well. Keep up the good work.

This by far is my favourite one. I've always wanted to see a Lady of the Mountain EDH deck. I know that building budget decks are your thing, but do you think you could make a Lady of the Mountain deck that is focused on being a bit more competitive rather than the budget? I think that would be awesome to see.

If there was a way to +1 this more than once, I would. XD

Thanks for the comments and upvotes Swheaty-pi! It's strange-I actually didn't set out to be a budget deck builder on TappedOut, and I play a ton of non-budget EDH decks that I'll eventually post on here. But I enjoy making these budget decks because so many people who would get into the format complain about cost, and TappedOut has a good editor for checking prices and displaying curve and such:p
