Kydele&Thrasios Merfolk Wizard Duo-Tribal Combo

Commander / EDH Casual Combo Control GU (Simic) Merfolk Wizards

First playable version of the deck. Still has a long way to go. Basic idea is to draw cards, make lots of mana off of Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix and use that mana to draw more cards and untap Kydele to make more mana. This happend to unintentionally produce this combo deck that can win off of Laboratory Maniac or Genesis Wave after going infinite. Please make suggestions! No Eldrazi tho, I want to hugely keep this as Merfolk/Wizard Tribal. Since I intend to NOT make a combo deck, but happened to do so unintentionally, the name of this deck is Oops, I did it again!. However I prefer a descriptive title on tappedout so there's that.

The main strategy of this deck is using Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix's potential to the fullest. This means getting her out and protected as soon as possible and then drawing a lot of cards, to produce a lot of mana, to draw more cards, to produce even more mana and then hopefully win through either Laboratory Maniac or alternatively repeatetly casting Blue Sun's Zenith to let our opponents draw to their death.

Decks in my meta include: Roon of the Hidden Realm cheap blink creatures, Xenagos, God of Revels best EDH aggro deck I know of, Kami of the Crescent Moon hardcore control, Azami, Lady of Scrolls control, Brago, King Eternal fast combo/stax combo, Braids, Conjurer Adept Group Hug, Ghave, Guru of Spores all the combos and more.

I proxy cards I need to acquire or don't want to buy if they're too expensive as e.g. Timetwister, so I have no budget restrictions.

Additionally to the rules on http://mtgcommander.net/rules.php we banned Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Mana Crypt, Winter Orb, MLD and Protean Hulk in my playgroup.

I played about 10 games with the deck so far. Hands without wheel effects or Curiosity and Merfolk are hard to keep since you need topdeck lucky to get going. You just can't with your commanders alone. It's very interesting to play because it can combo of from seemingly nowhere. You just keep drawing and making mana and try not to run out of cards you can play before you can combo off. Often times I have lots of colorless mana floating but have no way to spend it efficiently so I have to dump 16 mana into Thrasios, Triton Hero which sounds ok, but really isn't optimal. It's really a plan C. Plan A is going infinite and draw the deck and plan B is Genesis Wave for 10+. It can win as soon as turn 4 and if unhindered can pretty consistently win on turn 6-8.

This is a casual deck. This doesn't mean I don't want this deck to do unfair things. Hell yeah I want to. A few of my friends just started to get into MTG again and into EDH so I just want to take a step back from my more competitive Brago list and build a deck with a few self-imposed rules:

  1. This is a Merfolk&Wizard Tribal deck. Its aim is to draw cards and make mana. Cards that don't do either have to be in the tribes or won't get in here. So no Eldrazi. This would be boring and way to obvious.
  2. This is not primarily a combo deck. I play this deck in more casual environments, where people love to build a huge board. It is meant to do that, but be able to close out the game very quickly/at any time, so games don't get too drawn out to be enjoyed.
  3. I might expand these plans if I can think of some that support explaining what I want this deck to be.

Updates Add

Out:

Vizier of the Menagerie, Shamanic Revelation, Flusterstorm, Galecaster Colossus, Genesis Wave

In:

Reclamation Sage, Windfall, Autumn's Veil, Heroic Intervention, Noxious Revival

Vizier was just too slow, and his job is done better by Gemstone Array or Birds of Paradise which I can untap with say Umbral Mantle Shamanic Revelation is too inconsistant and too expensive. Windfall has to go in here, as well as maybe Tolarian Winds if I find some more room/think I need even more of these wheels. Flusterstorm was usually worse than Spell Pierce. Either we win anyway or we have a storm count of 1 or 2. Since I am not the biggest fan of Spell Pierce in here I am going to try Autumn's Veil in its place. Galecaster Colossus is just too expensive and is sometimes as good as an overloaded Cyclonic Rift but not always. Since I mostly used his effect for protection Heroic Intervention will take his place. Genesis Wave is fun if you resolve it for X>20 but it mostly puts lands into play, discards counterspells and sometimes we don't even win off of that. So I am running some free instant speed recursion in the form of Noxious Revival instead if we need to save something from getting exiled or drawing the last card off of Labmaniac goes wrong.

Big Manabase remake is coming up. Better fixing and more utility. Still testing some cards there so that's postponed for now.
