Deck Currently Under Revision (Adding Commander 2018 cards and more)

Description

The current state of the deck, despite stereotypes surrounding Red decks, is not very aggressive. Almost all large interactions need Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient to function... so don't be too hasty in casting him (same goes for Voltaic Key). You should focus on maximizing you mana first (going infinite if you can), and if possible having Swiftfoot Boots or Lightning Greaves to protect the commander.

Mana Combos

• Gilded Lotus + Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient + Voltaic Key - Tap Lotus for 3 red, pay 1 generic and a red to tap voltaic key (targeting itself and the Lotus) and repeat. Nets 1 extra red every cycle. Goes infinite.
• Basalt Monolith + Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient + Mycosynth Lattice - Tap the Monolith for 3 colourless, then pay 3 generic and 1 red to double up its untap ability. Tap twice more for 6 colourless. You will have 6 mana after the first cycle, then 8, 10, etc. Goes infinite, but without the Lattice you can still generate an impressive amount of colourless mana.

Draws, Cycling and Looting

• Endless Atlas, Tamiyo's Journal, Trading Post: straight card draws with little difficulty. Skull Clamp tends to rely on other cards to work.
• Key to the City, Jalum Tome, Daretti, Scrap Savant: Looting engines. Faithless Looting, Forgotten Cave, Smoldering Crater, Starstorm: One-off cycling or looting.
• Hedron Archive, Mind Stone, Commander's Sphere: Disposable ramp; only cash in for cards if you are confident in your current mana base.

Tutors

Inventors' Fair, Tamiyo's Journal, Hoarding Dragon: All very conditional tutors, the only advice I have here is don't draw attention to the first two so they don't get destroyed; work around exile effects so you don't lose the tutored card for the last one.

Winning Strategies

• Goblin Charbelcher + Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient + Voltaic Key - double the belcher's ability, double untap and repeat if you have the mana. Very much luck based; but keep in mind you can whittle down life totals, or if you're lucky get 40+ damage from an activation. Works better if you have ways to repeatedly fetch lands, e.g. a recurring Burnished Hart.
• Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient + Prototype Portal + Voltaic Key - lots of artifacts to copy, Darksteel Juggernauts can be fun for that. Keep doubling the portal's ability and untapping as long as you have mana.
• Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient + Retrofitter Foundry - if you've been sinking your mana into servos (or better yet thopters) before you got your kurkesh out: then you can start building your army pretty fast. Orochi Hatchery and Thopter Squadron or other ways to spam tokens.
• Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient + Myr Welder + Thousand-Year Elixir - You want the elixir to be in the graveyard: use Welder's ability to 'absorb' artifacts on the elixir (works with Volataic Key too, but you generally want that intact). Tap the welder with its untap ability (targeting itself) then let the first untap resolve; then tap for whatever ability you want; then let it untap again. It can absorb and use most of the other combos this way, e.g. Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient + Myr Welder + Gilded Lotus + retrofitter foundry: gets around a need for a Voltaic Key or Unwinding Clock.
• Darksteel Forge + Hellkite Tyrant + Mycosynth Lattice - the lattice and forge are indeed powerful, but if you win by stealing everything on the board then the sweeter the victory. Steel Hellkite also likes this setup, but varies in power depending on the consistency of the enemy's cmc. Oh, and Vandalblast is always a thing.

Analysis and Possible Improvements

• Deck Analysis: slow, janky, but can still affect the board. Your best bet is to sneak in a win while other players deal with the current biggest threat. If you are lucky enough to draw a Copper Gnomes + Darksteel Forge + Nevinyrral's Disk in your opening hand or one of the infinite combos then you have a solid chance of winning early game.
