First FNM —July 23, 2012

I went to my first FNM and with this deck I went 3-2.

Won 2-1 to a green aggro. Lost 2-1 to a red goblin Won 2-0 idk the deck because I beat him too fast Lost 2-1 to an exalted deck (i played it bad) Won 2-0 to a white token deck

I am dropping arms dealer and adding hellrider instead. I am also dropping two ghost quarters and adding 2 hellion crucibles. Also dropping pillar of flame for brimstone volley.

With these red goblin decks I feel likeeach person has their own kinda personal preference to what works for them. This one looks pretty solid as is, but things you could consider are cutting the Reverberate s for a 4th card:Krenko's Command and 3 Burn at the Stake . And maybe switching the 2 Dangerous Wager s out for Reforge the Soul ?

add Incinerates so that your goblins can go unblocked for when you dont get a arms dealer. also saves your goblins for attacking rather than killing things. also can hit for the last few points of damage. go 18 mountaing and 4 ghost quarters to remove annoying lands like wolf run, gavony township, and moorland haunt, adding 4 colorless wont really hurt you because you are mono red after all, if you are worried about it, go 3 instead of 4, then sideboard 1 more. I love the idea of mono red goblins, and was thinking about making it myself, i think you have a great start. bonfire of the damned would also go perfectly in this deck. If you want to spend the money on them that is. Just some suggestions. +1 because I love goblins.

actually brimstone volley can do creature or player, and is a great combo with goblin grenade. for 4 mana you can goblin grenade a goblin arsonist, deal 5 damage, then 1 from the arsonist, then play brimstone volley on them for another 5 damage. as for sideboard, wait till you play FNM and take note of what decks you had a hard time against. then you put in cards you can side in against those decks :)

I would add Reverberate and some kind of draw. Reverberate can double your damage spells or let you counter a counter. And red goes though cards to fast not to have some sort of draw. Anyway +1 because Goblins are awesome and this deck is base off from mine :P

A couple of cards to consider for a monored deck are Thunderous Wrath , Reverberate (which can even be a counterspell in red!), Reforge the Soul (restocking your hand is worth any advantage you give them in an all red deck) and Hellion Crucible . Yeah the crucible looks a little underwhelming, but there are going to be games where you have mana left over at the end of the turn. You can actually spin that into an advantage by making your opponent have one more thing to deal with.

Arms Dealer is probably the worst card in the deck. I always get a sour feeling spending 3 mana on it.

Try Spikeshot Elder or Brimstone Volley instead.

I agree that Hellion Crucible would be an excellent fit for this deck in place of two Ghost Quarter s. You may not use it every game, but it will help out every once in a while.

I would take out one of the Burn at the Stake s as well. Has a tendency of clogging up the hand if there are too many copies. You don't always want one every game necessarily either.

I am thinking of taking out one krenko's mob boss the arms dealers and one burn at the stake. Probably add reverberate, chandra's firebrand, and maybe something to draw more cards. Hellion seems like something to trade for ghost quarters too.
