Maybeboard

The only issue I’ve ever had with this deck: so much card draw. I usually have a hand size bigger than my library and/or graveyard. Reliquary Tower for when I want to keep my hand, and if I don’t? Korvold just eats the land and I can discard at my end step.

I have some recursion cards for when my graveyard is full, and Perpetual Timepiece for when I put myself in danger of drawing out my deck.

...

There’s been some updates after playing the deck many times, to replace the cards I didn’t like or were mostly just dead cards. Korvold has been super fun and it’s a super resilient deck (very easy to rebuild after boardwipes). Sometimes I play big creatures, sometimes I play mass tokens with Viscera Seer and a couple creatures like Poison-Tip Archer and Zulaport Cutthroat to ping people to death.

It’s not even close to being competitive, but in my playgroup this deck has far more wins than losses. Generally unless the Windgrace deck gets Omnath, Locus of Rage out with lots of tokens, the amount of cards I draw means I almost always get one of the Grave Pact style cards out and opponents have a hard time keeping any creatures. I’ve kept both token-based Windgrace and Ghired decks under control this way, but haven’t seen too many other creature-heavy decks to play against.

  • Aristocrats

  • Voltron

  • Brass's Bounty : typically 7+ treasure tokens that can all be sacrificed at instant speed to help Korvold as card draw and food or mana

  • Pitiless Plunderer : sacrifice our creatures to get treasures that can then be sacrificed themselves

  • Revel in Riches : alt win-con. Nice on its own but of course pairs so well with the above two treasure-makers

Updates Add

First update to the deck in a while, looking to smooth out the deck and keep everything working together. The two main paths are 1) ramp and play fodder for Korvold’s snack that also does stuff when entering/leaving, and 2) play things to voltron-up Korvold, through having sac outlets on themselves or from another source while also having a handful of cards to keep him safe since he is a big target for removal.

  • Cindervines and Seal of Primordium = removal that can sacrifice itself

  • Ugin's Nexus = another extra turn to go with Temporal Extortion (I thought we were playing Jund, not blue)

  • Constant Mists = both protection and syngergizes with Korvold to draw cards

  • Lightning Greaves = not sure why I didn’t have this in already to go with the Boots but now it’s here to keep Korvold hasty and safe from targeted removal

  • Rancor = gives Korvold trample and can also be eaten up by him only for the aura to come back to our hand to replay. Fortitude and Glistening Oil may make it in soon for similar reasons and also because infect on Korvold is just plain rude but makes it an easier win.

  • Chandra's Ignition = sacrifice 20 tokens or however much Korvold has fattened himself up with to smack every opponent for huge damage. Fling may be added if I further feel like more voltron-eske style is needed for more synergy.
