To the knights of faith nobody believes.
Since ELD just came out, I thought about trying to make knight tribal work.
I chose WB as my colors. While R is also a good option, there were just a few black cards I didn't want to go without, and nothing I found too important in red. The deck is, of course, still pretty casual, but I did some test games and it at least kind of worked. Let's get into some details:
Mainboard:
Griffin Rider
: Possibly the strongest card in the deck, a 2CMC 4/4 flyer is nothing to scoff at! Only downside is we need a lot of griffins to make it work.
Smitten Swordmaster
: One of the main reasons to play knight tribal now, this can help us close out games, or regain some life when we are low.
Changeling Outcast
: He's a 1-drop, he's a knight, he's a griffin, he has evasion. Just an all around good card for this deck.
Universal Automaton
: Outcast 5-8, unfortunately no evasion.
War Falcon
: A 2/1 flyer for 1 seems pretty good. Unfortunately not a knight.
Dauthi Mercenary
: Knight, evasive, late game mana sink.
Night's Whisper
: Some card draw, always good.
Disfigure
/
Journey to Nowhere
: Cheap removal.
Sideboard:
Defender of Law
/
Order of Leitbur
/
Order of the Ebon Hand
: Protection is really good against monocolored decks, and these are still very efficient creatures.
Duress
: Helps against anything, really.
Parapet
: Stops our creatures from dying to
Electrickery
.
Others:
Cateran Persuader
: Could help us get our Changeling Outcasts. This helps with Griffin Rider and Smitten Swordmaster.
Fledgling Griffin
/
Silverbeak Griffin
: Cheapest actual griffins.
Garisson Griffin: Cheap Griffin with knight synergy. Unfortunately, most of our knights are already evasive.
Shining Armor
: Combat trick, but I feel like despite knight synergy, it doesn't cut it. Does help us deal with Electrickery though.
Conclusion:
The deck can have a very strong start if we get Griffin Rider out early. A surprising amount of knights are evasive. I didn't want to use the flanking knights as I don't think they're quite good enough.
Comments and recommendations are always appreciated. Help me make knight tribal work!
