Originally I set out to make a semi-competitive mono-blue deck. So I grabbed a bunch of old school blue staples and mixed them together with random cards that seemed interesting. The end result was an incoherent mess - I couldn't decide if I was devotion, combo, card draw, etc... there was simply no reliable win condition.

So I went back to the drawing board, took my second love (artifacts) and threw them into the mix. This monstrosity is the outcome... I want my opponents to cringe every time I tap for mana

Invoke Prejudice and Back to Basics can win games by themselves with their level of control. Going mono-blue there is virtually no downside to using them.

Kira, Great Glass-Spinner,Nim Deathmantle, any of the swords all provide amazing levels of survivability and protection. These in addition to powerful counterspells allow me to invest in otherwise fragile creatures.

So that I wouldn't be too light on creatures, I was sure to include Bribery, Blatant Thievery , Desertion , Control Magic, Vedalken Shackles, Sower of Temptation, Roil Elemental , and Treachery. The value these cards bring to the table is too good to pass up.

I welcome any feedback :) I've been debating on dropping Lotus Bloom for a Trinket Mage. Also on my wish list is Spellskite, Snapcaster Mage, Memnarch, Wurmcoil Engine, and Sword of Fire and Ice
