Modern Horizons —June 19, 2019

Adding Hall of Heliod's Generosity from Modern Horizons. It's such a natural fit in here bringing back any enchantment. You can respond to Kestia's attack trigger by activating the Hall. This will put the enchantment nicely into your hand to be cast on the the second main phase.

Overrun seems like an odd choice for a deck which isn't focused on creature production. I might be underestimating the utility of Overrun here, but do you think it might be better to add something which synergizes more with enchantments and may be more permanent, consider your number of creatures might not be enough to eliminate a player with Overrun most of the time? Perhaps Celestial Ancient, Dictate of Heliod, Collective Blessing, or Call for Unity. If you just want the trample, Driven // Despair is cheaper and enables card draw, while Overwhelming Stampede is easier to cast and will give a larger pump. Primal Rage just gives your creatures trample and synergizes with your enchantresses. So, I think there may be one option here which is better than Overrun! I hope this isn't too much!

johnny1242000, thanks for your suggestions. Overrun was kinda just in there as a placeholder win condition card until I figure out through playtesting what the deck needs. I totally agree that it can be replaced. Of your suggestions I like Dictate of Heliod the best as it can be an instant speed pump. Also bonus points for being on theme with all the Theros block cards in the deck

I recommend running Coastal Piracy over Bident of Thassa. Unless you need to force your opponents to attack, Coastal Piracy is better, just because it isn't legendary, and therefore can be copied by Estrid's Invocation. Or run both, if you're as addicted to card draw as I am.

i wonder what's your opinion about Triumph of the Hordes as alternate wincons?

also, i wonder why you don't include things like Sigarda's Aid Hero of Iroas Danitha Capashen, Paragon Kor Spiritdancer Sram, Senior Edificer my knowledge is still very lacking but i find these suits quite well in your deck

I recently put together a kestia deck myself. A few ideas for you:

Dawn's Reflection Another copy of market festival. Farseek is the card I would swap out. You have only four duals and run quite a lot of basics.

You run very few instants or sorceries. Has Genesis Wave crossed your mind? Looks like it'd be a bomb in this deck.

I think Ephara, God of the Polis and Nylea, God of the Hunt would both be great cards in the deck. I would swap celestial archon and nylea's collusus for those. The gods have much higher upside and are so very on theme. You have enough creatures in the deck to make ephara worth it.

Lastly, a real gem in Kestia that gets overlooked is Venser, the Sojourner. I haven't found another card that does what his minus does, its absurdly good for kestia. The plus is okay, good to flick auramancer or the like, or trigger constellation. The minus is all that really matters though. With a good board state, can easily refill your hand and easily kill someone.

Hope you like some of my ideas. Cool deck, I freaking love Kestia so much.

redace10, Thanks so much for your suggestions. Sorry it's taken so long to respond. I've been away from the deck for a while and now getting back to it.

I've added both Ephara and Genesis Wave based on your suggestions. I removed Celestial Archon as I agree it was relatively low impact. Nylea's Collosus though is an absolute house in the deck and would be one of the last cards I would cut. It very easily turns a small, evasive creature into a win condition. Ephara has been performing great in the deck as a big, indestructible beater that is relatively easy to "turn on" as well as providing incremental card draw. Definitely thanks for that suggestion! Haven't drawn into Genesis Wave yet since adding it to the deck, but I think you're right...it will flood the board with creatures and auras.

Dawn's Reflection was previously in the deck but I actually cut it for Farseek. I found the deck needed another ramp card at less than 3 mana to pump out Kestia a turn earlier. Farseek is great for fixing and I plan on eventually adding "shock lands" to give it even more targets.

Again, thanks for the feedback!

MegaMatt13 I hear you about Nylea's Collosus, its just always irked me that while its a great pump effect, there is no evasion at all involved, so whatever you pump will need something else to push it through, otherwise, chump blocks for days.

This is why I like Nylea, God of the Hunt better. Static trample for everything is fantastic, the fact that it is itself a huge indestructible beater is wonderful. The extra pump ability is icing on the enchantment cake.

Something else that jumped out at me while taking a second look at the deck - you have only one flyer. I think Sandwurm Convergence might be a worthwhile card here. Shimmering Wings would also be a strong consideration. I actually think both those cards aren't seeing enough play in Bant enchantress builds. They do their jobs very well.

More food for thought, glad I can help :)

Great looking deck here! I recommend Teferi, Hero of Dominaria. He offers card draw, untaps your mana that are enchanted, and that ultimate ability since you will be drawing lots of cards

savagetrooper, thanks for your suggestion. Teferi is indeed an amazing card, but also expensive! I don't own a copy. Appreciate your feedback :)

Shielded by Faith? Love that card, and is incredibly on theme with the deck. Sun Titan isn't here either. I mean it just always earns its deck slot in a white EDH deck, its value can't be denied. The former fits under the latter exquisitely too :)

redace10, those are both great suggestions and I've added them to my maybeboard. The problem as always is what to cut to make room. I may replace Unquestioned Authority as the deck has a ton of evasion. Sun Titan would be a powerhouse in here with a ton of permanents costing 3 or less but I don't know what else to cut for a 6 drop. Any chance of your version of the deck being posted on here?

MegaMatt13 I myself have switched over to Estrid since I first commented. (someone in my playgroup built Kestia too. Smart people know she's great)

If you'd like some cut suggestions I can oblidge. I would cut Spirit Mantle over Unquestioned Authority first, as the draw is worth far more. Likewise I would pick either Aqueous Form or Whitewater Naiads, not both. You're running O-ring and banishing light, I don't think you need both. Honestly you could probably get by without either. Detention Sphere?

Another card I feel is a little lackluster is on serra's wings. Four mana is steep and compares poorly to angelic destiny and octopus umbra. Now Ethereal Armor on the other hand... :)

Hopefully that helps, I'll get my estrid list up soon, might give you some inspiration.

redace10 I'd actually advocate towards keeping both Oblivion Ring and Banishing Light, since they are the most versatile on-theme removal. More importantly, if you can get Oblivion Ring, Banishing Light, and Estrid's Invocation in play (admittedly a long shot) you can recursively have them exile each other as much as you like, scoring an arbitrary number of Constellation triggers. It certainly isn't as efficient as some other combos, but Kestia draws a lot of cards, and there's something special about drawing your deck from Eidolon of Blossoms or swinging for infinite damage because of Nylea's Colossus.

CaptainGalvanic That's a cool a combo, I just can't picture it realistically happeneing. Need those three pieces, and also something to take make use of the constellation trigger. If the deck is filled with searches then go nuts, otherwise feels like a corner-case combo.

My Estrid deck is up by the by, I adore it so. Step 1: Estrid Untaps. Step 2:??? Step 3: Profit!

How about Eldrazi Conscription for a game ender? It's work really well in my Kestia commander C'mon Kes!.
