Spell slinging is a deck archetype that has always appealed to me but was tricky for me to implement into EDH for some time. I initially made a Melek, Izzet Paragon deck but the CMC for him was far too prohibitive in colors that wouldn't ramp. In 2015 we got Mizzix of the Izmagnus who was fun enough to play, especially since her CMC was low enough that I could feasibly play her, but after a few months I found the deck became boring. After several game nights I finally realized the problem I was having with it. With only Red and Blue my options were limited to digging through my deck, keeping counters up, and assembling the combo to storm out or win with a ludicrously large Fireball effect. Running through deck ideas I found that I have a lot more fun by splashing a third color. I tried Riku of Two Reflections for some time but the deck that took shape was less spellslinger and more rampy tempo. I would have loved to try Jeskai but when the 2017 EDH decks were released there wasn't a commander in those colors suited to the archetype and that years precons brought us Kess, Dissident Mage, a Legendary that felt tailor made for me.

Incremental value from locust god, Niv-Mizzet, Parun, Guttersnipe, or Thousand-Year Storm if they survive one or more table rotations.

Torment of Hailfire

Rise of the Dark Realms

Outlasting my opponents by wheeling and refilling my library with cards like Psychic Spiral and Elixir of Immortality

Updates Add

After being back and forth for some time I buckled down and got some cards to try a reanimator strategy with this deck.

Path of Ancestry Upgrading the manabase

Elixir of Immortality I'm sure I will regret taking this out but we shall see.

Island Decided to be risky and reduce my land count by one. It hasn't bit me in the ass yet.

Crosis's Charm Lowering the single target removal.

Terminate Lowering the single target removal.

Past in Flames We'll see if this comes back in. As I'm not playing storm and only 4 rituals it's difficult to say whether it should be in the deck or not.

Ill-Gotten Gains Found it was helping my opponents as much as me

Ancient Excavation I will try and find a spot to fit this in soon. The landcycling and helping me dig through the deck is too good.

Ral, Storm Conduit I don't think he has ever survived a table rotation after cast and I never seem to have two copy spell effects available when I do have Ral available.

Niv-Mizzet, Parun A wincon that I can now rez rather then casting.

Buried Alive We all know and love it, graveyard tutor.

Beacon of Unrest Good rez and helps me from decking out

Guttersnipe Incremental damage that can add up if he isn't removed

Grave Upheaval Rez and landcycling

Archfiend of Depravity Helps keep the board clear for me

Breaking/Entering Mill options or rez

Spell Swindle The cmc of this spell always made me hesitant but the treasure tokens make for great follow up plays

God-Eternal Kefnet The big one. I have had my eye on this god since he was previewed.
