Extortion is just another form of tithes, and Karlov of the Ghost Council takes his dues.

Mana Ramp: Crypt Ghast , Nirkana Revenant , Caged Sun & Cabal Coffers provide accelerated mana, while Blanket of Night and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth make all lands provide the additional ramp.

Extortion provides the meat of this deck as it deals damage to all players and time you extort, Karlov of the Ghost Council gets x2 +1/+1 counters each time you extort (even w/the same spell).

Naturally you need to protect your commander, and that's why I included Bastion Protector , Shielded by Faith , Lightning Greaves , Swiftfoot Boots and Whispersilk Cloak .

I've included plenty of removal to pave the way for Karlov of the Ghost Council to reach my opponents, but I've included a few additional ways to get through: Rogue's Passage , Shizo, Death's Storehouse , Loxodon Warhammer , Vorrac Battlehorns and Whispersilk Cloak .

Authority of the Consuls , Blind Obedience , Kambal, Consul of Allocation , Polluted Bonds and Auriok Champion + Soul Warden + Soul's Attendant were included to slow my opponents.

The following are for draw advantage: Greed , Necropotence , Phyrexian Arena , Tymna the Weaver , Bolas's Citadel and Well of Lost Dreams as what does a few life cost in a life gain deck?
