It's Back! —Nov. 30, 2015

I know I said in the previous update that this deck was going the Way of the Dodo, but I brought it back, but why?

It all started yesterday, during a game where I was piloting Daxos the Returned. One of my opponents was a real ass about announcing the triggers, and I had so many I couldn't keep track (Spoilers: I'm a slow thinker), and I felt the need to have a deck where I could relax and not worry about triggers so much. I'm still reeling from that game right now, and I feel the need to vent, but that's best left for a forum post.

Meanwhile, this deck now has a sibling, which is the Giant tribal deck I built earlier (I'll link it in the description soon). I had fun playing the deck, despite how slow it is. Kudos to Wizards for making me rage about tribal, then making me learn that Giants was actually quite fun.

A few fixes, for now:

-Sword of Light and Shadow: I misplaced this card, so I don't have it on me atm, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I really only used it for the protections. There's another card best suited for this purpose.

-Contagion Clasp: You don't need to have many experience counters for Kalemne to be ridiculous.

-Contagion Engine: Really, this is only good against token decks, and, again, you don't need many experience counters before Kalemne becomes scary.

-Terramorphic Expanse: I'll try to add this back in.

+Scourge of the Throne: Talking about scary...

+Champion's Helm: Hexproof is much needed, and the buff isn't changed from the removed Sword.

+Hedron Archive: More card draw (and ramp)!

+Command Tower: Oops, I forgot to add this!

This is a sweet deck, Akroma, Angel of Fury or/ and Akroma, Angel of Wrath would be a good beater with trample. I like your your methods of crushing skulls.oh try to get your hands on a Command Beacon. Helps the commander out.

SimicBerserker0: Thanks for the compliment. The Akromas sit at a high curve, so I can't add them without sorting out the mana curve.

Command Beacon, though, is going into my next version (or at least I'm considering it). Speaking of which...

I played the stock list, and Giant tribal was more interesting than I thought: It has very little support barring Lorwyn block, and the deck already gives you a head start. My newer version of Kalemne is in this direction (Don't worry; I haven't forgotten about Sunforger; it's in there with just as many targets as this deck). Stay tuned later today; it will be up.

might i recommend Isochron Scepter? it seems like it could help with some of you copy spells, or to ensure that you dont lose the game in a 1v1 match

The design is not bad, voltron oriented design would be great too. Cards such as Battlegrace Angel, Sublime Archangel, and Cathedral of War can be included to boost her. Creatures with Evoke are some good shortcut for gaining Experience Counter. Good equipment such as Scytheclaw or Quietus Spike, would lower an opponent's life to 1/4 as long as she hits. Kusari-Gama would makes opponent think twice before block and Banshee's Blade makes her grow too while Hero's Blade is a cheap but huge boost. Other honorable mention would be Spellbinder, Umezawa's Jitte, and 5 of those enemy-color swords, to make full use of her Double Strike. Compares with the other 4 commanders, perhaps she requires the least Experience Counter to gain significant impact to the board, don't focus too much of gaining experience counter, that's just bonus. Two Experience Counters with a little boost from equipment/enchantment would makes her a 2-turn kill. The nature of the deck design should provide consistent protection to her and make sure she hits players. CMC 5 creatures are not that crucial. Whereas, Indestructibility, Unblockable, protection or evasion are important, such as Eight-and-a-Half-Tails. Card such as Urabrask the Hidden, though provide experience counter and haste, it is actually in the reversed casting order, thus not a good suggestion. Blind Obedience or Kismet would actually do a better job. Resolute Archangel could be important too. To go a little bit crazy, Strionic Resonator can be used to earn additional Experience Counter or other trigger abilities such as Exalted and from other equipment.

ponyboy276: The scepter is only good in spell-heavy builds, which this deck isn't.

Piew: Holy laundry list, Batman! I'm not really a fan of a lot of the cards, but Hero's Blade is definitely a good card to be running.
