I was introduced to the Commander format by borrowing someone's Kaalia deck and jumping into their game. It was such a fun deck and interesting format that I was determined to make my own Kaalia EDH deck.

Why Kaalia and not some other commander? Well, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ANGELS! It's my favorite creature type. However sticking a bunch of high costing angels into any other deck in seems ineffective if there was no way to cheat them into the battlefield. Kaalia was the commander for me.

My desire to create my first edh lead me to research a bit and I stumbled upon a very helpful article and decklist by Wally D. Besides loving Angels, I really love combat tricks, so the idea of the deck being filled with a ton of instants was all too tempting. I decided to go with a similar strategy in the article of combining Kaalia and Sunforger in the deck; however, my decklist is very different due to my constant editing I do. Random fact: since it is so Sunforger instants heavy, my deck probably has one of the lowest cmc averages amongst Kaalia edh decks.

I created this deck in 2013 and have been continually playing and ever tweaking this deck ever since. What's great about this deck is that Magic the Gathering will always come out with new angels, demons, and/or dragons in each new set; since they are among the most beloved creature types. Also, white and red will always get new instants, many of which are bound to be 4 or less casting cost. With this constant stream of new and interesting cards always coming out, I'm able to continually tinker with this deck and make it always feel new and exciting. I'm never bored of playing this deck really. Each game is so drastically different with all the different creature abilities and instants and random combos that can arise.

I've also altered some of the cards. I've done bordless extensions for Aegis Angel , Blinding Angel , Angel of Serenity, and Reya Dawnbringer (in that order), and I hope to do more. Perhaps one day, all the angels in this deck will be altered making a beautiful deck!
