Overview This Meren deck aims to flood the board with tokens, pump them up high with cards like Beastmaster Ascension and Kraul, Death Priest then swing for lethal. This deck isn't an all out stax deck that aims to break your friendships faster than a game of monopoly, however it is a stacked toolbox easily capable of eliminating your opponent's threats whether they be artifacts, creatures, or enchantments.

Self Mill This deck feeds off a full graveyard so I've included some cheap and effective cards which add a ton of value to the deck. Stitcher's Supplier, and Hermit Druid are exceptionally good at getting a lot of cards into your grave very quickly. The latter is extremely good seeing as the deck's land-base is about 66% non-basic. Stitcher's supplier also triggers as it dies so you have a guaranteed 6 card mill if she resolves. Next up we have some dredge cards like Stinkweed imp, and life from the loam which provide us with a great option of milling ourselves at the start of our turn instead of drawing one card. Life from the loam is usually my number one choice when I draw into entomb as it really accelerates Meren's engine particularly during the early game where people are unlikely to utilize any graveyard hate. Satyr wayfinder is an automatic include in this deck as it usually nets us a land and mills us for 3 or 4. Lastly, we have a land, Dakmor salvage, that also acts as a mill source.

Sacrifice outlets The best way to win with a Meren deck is with a plethora of sacrifice outlets that can be triggered at instant speed. It's also nice to profit off these sacrifice outlets, especially when they come at a cheap cost. This deck-list includes 10 sacrifice outlets that can be triggered at instant-speed, 7 of which require no mana to utilize. The list is as follows; 1. Carrion Feeder; This dude gets very large very fast and is a great target for your Rogue's Passage late game 2. Viscera Seer; Amazing top deck manipulation provided you have the fodder. 3. Prest of Forgotten Gods; an interesting mana-dork that requires you to sack two other creatures but it also forces your opponents to lose life, sac one of their creatures and nets you two black mana and a card. 4. Razaketh, the Foulblooded; resolving razaketh usually ends the game either that turn or the next provided you have the life, mana, and bodieson the board to fetch your combo pieces and play them immediately. 5. Grim Backwoods; An expensive cost for a sac outlet but it's included just for the access. 6. High Market; instant speed sac outlet plain and simple 7. Phyrexian Tower; pricey card but a great include as it nets you two black mana for any sacked creature. 8. Westvale Abbey; I really like this card, you can completely ignore the first ability as it's a huge waste to pay 5 mana for a 1/1 blocker, but you'll be surprised at how easily you can get 5 creatures on your board to act as the fodder needed to gain a hasty 87/7 flier with life-link that's indestructible. 9. Ashnod's Altar; instant-speed sac outlet that produces two colorless and is reusable 10. Birthing Pod; This rarely stays on the board as it is stupid good. Podding creatures for even better creatures who's ETB effects target your opponent's threats is extremely valuable and will run as your central strategy for advancing your game-plan while threatening to disrupt your opponents'.

The Main strat There are two main things you want to do in this deck; sacrifice your own creatures for value, and produce tokens to flood the board. So we already discussed the 10 different sacrifice outlets in the deck and their usefulness but if we don't have any bodies to haul to the altar then we can't actually utilize them. That's why I've included cards like Mycoloth, Kessig Cagebreakers, Awakening Zone, Catacomb Sifter, Ophiomancer, and pawn of ulamog. Producing tokens is one thing, but pumping them up so that you have 12 creatures at 6/6 indestructible and flying is another. Beastmaster ascension, Mazirek Kraul Death priest, and Eldrazi Monument are key cards that will buff up your army faster than your opponent's can handle.

Interaction Board wipes always hurt for creature based decks even if we run a reanimation themed commander, and without access to blue we're hard-pressed to find any counters. The best I could think up was heroic intervention. Other cards such as Rec sage, Bane of Progress, Pernicious Deed, and Krosan Grip are great at eliminating artifact and enchantments on our opponent's side granted Bane of Progress and Pernicious Deed do hurt us as well. Cards like Massacre Wurm, Sheoldred, Plaguecrafter / Merciless Executioner, ravenous chupacabra, and Duplicant work really well at eliminating the creatures that oppose us. Mindslicer is a great sac target when you know/suspect that your opponents have a board wipe in hand. Lastly, Spore frog is a fantastic fog effect that has saved me countless times.

Closing Remarks This is a toolbox style of deckbuilding that includes cards that I personally believe are necessary for both protecting your pieces and destroying your opponents but feel free to take out what you disagree with and head in any direction you like.
