I really like the use of Blood Scrivener ! I'm working on a similar deck, only I lean a little bit more towards control in mine. I have to suggest Garruk, Primal Hunter . His -3 is great for refilling your hand, and can create pretty powerful tokens if left unattended.

Mine is called Junk Control (not a reanimator) if you wanna take a look.

Anyway, +1 and good luck to a fellow Junk player!

Thanks man. I actually really like your control aspects and I'm debating what I should. I think I dropped that for lifegain but I might morph it into something like yours the more I play. Dig your deck though sir!

Thanks! I've actually been toying with the idea of Blood Scrivener , I might have to test him.

I'm debating cutting one Thragtusk for my Garruk, Primal Hunter . Thoughts?

Garruk, Primal Hunter is definitely worth adding, but maybe cut Rhox Faithmender instead.

By the way, tested with Blood Scrivener in my deck, and it's absolutely fantastic. Mainboarded two.

Call911FTW says... #8

Heck yes. Glad to hear he works!

So Garruk, Primal Hunter is in. I want to keep my curve the way it is so I'm testing it without a thraggy.

Here is my idea behind Rhox Faithmender : He is the key part to my life gain. I know it doesn't win games but it allows me to stabilize and it gives my deck the personality I'm looking for. Plus I can give him deathtouch with my Vault of the Archangel and Ready / Willing to stop a whole heck of a lot of main boarded bad guys. Definitely a work in progress though and I'm gonna have to streamline as I test.

The deck arrives Tuesday! Have you brought your brew to FNM yet? Any ideas on that sideboard of mine?

Unfortunately I haven't gone to FNM yet, but I've been playing it like mad with my buddies. I've been fine-tuning my deck's sideboard as it goes. A few good cards to consider for it:

Abrupt Decay for aggro
Loxodon Smiter for cruel control
Golgari Charm for control (haven't tested this yet, but theory says it should work)
Blind Obedience for aggro
Deathrite Shaman for reanimator

Other than those really key cards I think it varies by meta a lot. The big thing is to make sure you know what you're gonna take out when you side them in. For example, I sb 3x Loxodon Smiter because I put him in for Centaur Healer , of whom I run 3.

Thanks for all the help by the way. This is my first Junk deck and I'm so pumped to try it out.

Yea no problem man, I like helping people out. Besides, maybe you'll be able to help me out with a deck I'm unfamiliar with sometime. Good luck with the Junk!

I'm thinking about throwing in a 1 of Griselbrand if Sigarda doesn't cut it for a late game bomb.

I can't figure out when Blood Scrivener would be good. Even though you do have Farseek, I would put in two more lands instead. Or, if you'd rather keep that spot for a creature, Restoration Angel works better with the deck you have.

Call911FTW says... #14

After exhausting my hand, he adds some much needed draw into a Junk build. Plus his downside won't mean anything with the lifegain. He will be switched out for a lot of sideboard goodies though, but it is my favorite card from dragon's maze and I'm hoping to test how he works.

Restoration Angel is going to take the place of Rhox Faithmender when I have the money (and if the deck isn't preforming the way I want it to at FNM). You're right though, she would be most dope for this deck.

As for the lands, I never run more than 22. I always am unlucky enough to shuffle up a flood and I've found that 22 works perfectly. Especially with 4 dorks and farseeks.

Restos have been added!

Why is Blood Scrivener mainboarded? You really don't want to be emptying your hand in a deck like this, it would probably be better suited in the sideboard for decks running things like Sire Of Insanity and Rakdos's Return (aka jund)

Call911FTW says... #18

Alright, that seems to be the most criticism I'm getting for the deck. I understand that Blood Scrivener has some issues, and I will probably have 2 Selesnya Charm or Blind Obedience if he really is a dead drop. Scrivener is my favorite card from Dragon's Maze for some reason and I want to try him out. If he doesn't work I'll update. Thanks!

I agree he is an amazing card, but he's not optimized here. Getting him and a Sire Of Insanity out on the other hand...

Although you don't want to empty your hand in Junk midrange, you usually do. I've found Underworld Connections the best in my deck.

I'm not gonna lie, I saw that it was in your deck and I'm definitely considering that. It would go so well with my lifegain theme. I just wish it didn't mess up my curve so bad. Then again.. I don't really plan on playing Scrivener turn two anyways. I might have to pick two of them up.

Ugh I just need to test this thing out already.

Maybe chuck in a few Unburial Rites for one to two Obzedat's Aid ? It can't get your planeswalkers for you, but it can get you a ton of your creatures. And also has a flashback cost for one colorless less. Don't know how in love you are with obzedat's aid, but Unburial Rites just seems like it could be better for your deck. You can get twice the use, just a thought!

Also, I would maybe consider a Craterhoof Behemoth . Between the Resto angels and it having haste, not to mention I've played this color combo before and it does well with keeping creatures on the battlefield. Might as well let them boost up, and give your creatures a heft boost for a win! Don't know how it looks for your CMC, but that would be another suggestion I have.

Thanks for the tips! I played in an FNM finally with this deck. I could only stay for the first 3 rounds. No defeats for the first two matchups (American Control and Gruul Aggro). After that though I faced Esper control that milled me to death as I kept drawing lands. Unburial Rites would have done so much more work than Obzedat's Aid and is probably gonna end up as a 2 of in the sideboard with one aid. Craterhoof Behemoth is interesting and would do great with the tokens. I'm almost looking for a bit more help with control however.

as solution for the extra beating maiby Gavony Township is an idea, since it is very good in combination with your lingering spirrits, and it makes your pilgrims big creatures too. I think you can replace it with Vault of the Archangel because you already have that lifegain.
