Perhaps add in a sac outlet? That way you could deal huge amounts of damage in a turn. Another way of resetting undying creatures is Conjurer's Closet .

I've tested this deck against a few of my own a few times, and I have to say I really love it. I've wanted to build an undying deck for a while, and you really put a nice one together.

One interaction you may want to watch out for, however, is Cauldron Haze with your Strangleroot Geist and Young Wolf, since I'm fairly certain the persist just kills both of them the moment they are brought back.

I am not looking at any rules here, but if the Strangleroot Geist and Young Wolf do gain persist, they will enter with a -1/-1 counter, then die and have the undying effect take place again as it will have no +1/+1 counters. So if Flayer of the Hatebound is on the field, it will trigger twice.

I think you're right actually, never even considered that interaction. Very cool.

Thanks for all the feedback and yeah I believe Hadesshade is correct that they ail just come back again with a +1/+1 counter in the end. Conjurer's Closet also seems like a cool addition. Thanks!

Actually, here's the how undying and persist work together. If you're creatures have both persist and undying, when they die and reenter the battlefield, they won't have any counters on them, because the -1/-1 and +1/+1 counters negate each other.

I like the deck man, seems like a very fun deck to play. What I really like about it is that undying kind of keeps your op from attacking/blocking, because it usually isn't a fair trade. Have you thought about Thrull Parasite to reset your creatures, or Demonlord of Ashmouth for some big, flying beats?

@VampireArmy

Thanks so much for the comment and the awesome feedback! I've always loved this type of deck with sac outlets and graveyard shenanigans. :D

Neat deck.

As a fun thought, you could use cards like Korozda Gorgon ,Ooze Flux , or Bioshift to move the counters off the undying creatures so they can use their undying ability again.

varolz would work well in here offering a sac outlet and a scavenge utility.

Fill up your graveyard, by sacking, then scavenge until your 3/3 doublestriker becomes something truly disgusting.

What happened to the Thrull Parasite man?

CardsAndStuff says... #13

@brokendwarf- Thanks! Also, I'll take those cards into account. They seem like they could do some work.

@Schuesseled- I have given Varolz some thought before. I was just afraid that his second ability would be a bad idea if I have undying creatures that haven't died the first time, because I wouldn't want to put counters on them. I have to say though, what you said about scavenging on to the Hound is tempting.

You convinced me!

Schuesseled says... #14

:) I think he might be better than either Birthing Pod or Hell's Caretaker , and replace one of them.

You would lose the ability to fetch cards from the library/graveyard, but in it's place gain instant speed costless sacking and you get to pump up a creature of your choice.

@beatmick- I... Actuallly have no idea... lol.. one sec.

@Schuesseled- Thanks again! For the time being, I have him in the place of a five and six drop because the high mana costs have actually been a little bit clunky, but I think you're probably right that he should replace the Caretaker... Even though I love that guy xD.

Sweet! I like this build a lot man, seems very strong, especially against control decks; having to waste two removal spells to get rid of one creature is a big deal. Awesome work man, I like where the deck is going, keep it up!

@beatmick- Thanks so much for all of the compliments you've given me! :D

A friend of my has a similarish undying/persist deck but to remove counters he started with Thrull Parasite and then moved to Power Conduit and was way more efficient!

@BalkanDS Cool idea! I'll test it out. Thanks!

July 20, 2013 10:33 p.m.

I'd never considered using a Thrull Parasite like that....nice.

@PhyrexianExile Thanks! It was beatmick's idea and he told me to use it.

Hey CardsAndStuff, mind if I ask a little favor of ya bro?...and do some self promoting?.... I think I have this modern Jund deck I've been working on finally finished. Would love for ya to take a look bro, get your opinion. \m/ Punk Rock! \m/ (comments/suggestions) I have everything but the fetches (I know they're kind of key, but expensive), so I want to get to my LGS and get this running in some modern tourneys.
