Martai, Mardu + Sultai...get it?
After pulling 2 Alesha, Who Smiles at Death I just knew there had to be a way to abuse this mechanic...Who is out there with power less than 2 that is worth their weight? OH!!!! Green SOBs who come in with counters!
Alesha, Who Smiles at Death makes a great cheap reanimator for creatures like Heroes' Bane since he is actually a 0/0, you can pull him for 2 W/B from the graveyard. By mixing Sultai with a sprinkle of Mardu, you get yourself a Jund Reanimator.
So here's the breakdown-
Alesha, Who Smiles at Death- Obviously a crux of the deck. Abuse the pay 2 and reanimate ability to bring back stuff from the graveyard from the self-mill.
Heroes' Bane the original reason this thought got stuck in my head. cycle Heroe's Bane into the graveyard and boom, cast it for 2 with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death
Hornet Queen but Alesha works on this bit of royalty too. Also, combos well with re-entering the battlefield.
Scourge of Skola Vale- an interesting piece that most would overlook. Allows me to feed my graveyard with my creatures, buff Skola, and then Alesha brings the creatures back (or bloodsoaked champion brings himself back). Works wonders with Hornet Queen and with Trample, it can really beef up with feeding Heroes' Bane to the graveyard.
Sylvan Caryatid- an obviously required mana dork.
Satyr Wayfinder- helps feed the creatures into the graveyard and mana fixing.
Tasigur, the Golden Fang is not normally my flavor of creature. But, the delve with 4/5 and bring to hand is a really nice. So there we go.
SPELLS-
Commune with the Gods- Helps find Alesha, Who Smiles at Death and feeds other creatures into the graveyard.
Magma Jet spot removal and some scry.
Rescue from the Underworld- sac an ETB ability creature, bring back something you need AND the ETB creature (I am looking at you Hornet Queen)
Murderous Cut because what else am I going to do with all of the other cards in my graveyard? Use them to send your creatures to yours? Sounds good.
Currently removed Whip of Erebos for Swift Warkite just to get an idea of the flavor it may bring to the deck.
The deck needs some fine tuning and I would love some suggestions if anyone could think of any.
I know it can be smoother and more clever than it is currently, I just need some suggestions.
At the moment I am not really looking to splash blue or white.
Thanks for looking!
