Deathrite Shaman is great. In my opinion, if you were going to be removing anything, I'd get rid of the Shred-Freaks for Slitherhead. While Shred-Freak is good, it doesn't synergize well with the rest of the deckWhile no one else seems to enjoy Deathrite Shaman as much as me, I still strongly advocate it staying.
I like the Deathrite because its an opportunity to take out opposing messengers or creatures with scavenge or undying<<< (that does work right?) also I use the ultimate price over the dread bore due to instant speed over sorcery. I can board out to dread bore for multicolor creatures or planeswalkers.
Pretty good deck one problem though your sideboard has 16 cards you need to cut 1 card in it probably the Revenge of the Hunted
Slitherhead , as everyone has been saying, is amazing with Lotleth Troll. Discard, then free scavenge for two quick +1/+1 counters! Should be a 4-of in my opinion.
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord would probably give this deck a solid creature. I mean, being able to Fling all your creatures is pretty tasty, and Jarad with Rancor is just scary. As it stands your red needs to do more work, I would go Dreadbore over Ultimate Price , just because Ultimate Price is too limited against a field that has so many strong multi-coloured creatures. Jarad also triggers Gravecrawler , so just having these two gives you a means to kill them, irrespective of what they do.
Consider Stensia Bloodhall for reach. Consider Golgari Charm in the SB in case you run in to Supreme Verdict . Given the likelihood of lots of mirrors, I would consider Pillar of Flame MB to deal with Gravecrawler , card:Geralf's Messenger, and to give a modicum of reach. I would also think that Falkenrath Aristocrat should be a three-of. Anyway, happy games.
Sticking very close to what you've got already, and assuming no Blood Artist and 23 lands, I would be thinking along these lines:
4 Slitherhead
4 Gravecrawler
4 Diregraf Ghoul
4 Lotleth Troll
4 Geralf's Messenger
3 Dreg Mangler
2 Falkenrath Aristocrat
4 Brimstone Volley
2 Abrupt Decay
2 Pillar of Flame
1 Dreadbore
2 Sign in Blood
1 Rancor
As mentioned, Jarad also seems like a sweet potential one-of.
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord could be a good one-of, but I think Vraska the Unseen does the job better.
needs Blood Artist more than Dreg Mangler and as i said before you could cut red and use Bloodflow Connoisseur instead or even Bloodthrone Vampire for the sac engine effect.
I love this deck, +1 from me! It gave my W/U/R control build a REALLY hard time. Honestly, I say run Gravecrawler over Slitherhead . The two free 1/1 counters on Lotleth Troll is really nice, but I think being able to pitch the 'crawler to feed the troll and cast the crawler from the yard is better. Again, that's just my opinion. Deathrite Shaman seems absolutely fantastic against control, so I'd board those in accordingly.
Is Quirion Dryad a bad idea? I can see her getting pretty big considering all your spells bar Rancor are a bit more than just green... making her harder and harder to dispose of in the same way Lotleth Troll gets stronger except without as much of a downside and lacking regeneration. But if they keep blocking your Gravecrawler s and they keep getting re-cast from your graveyard, your dryad would definitely be able to handle most red spot removal.
I would maindeck Golgari Charm to deal with enchantments and give you an edge in combat with both regeneration and a -1/-1 weenie boardsweep. I could see Detention Sphere and Rest in Peace as a problem for this deck
Gotta get aggressive if you're going aggro zombies...-3 slitherhead, this card is only good if you discard it to the troll, otherwise it's mediocre.-4 dragonskull summit - Your curve ends at 4, and you have one red card that you can cast on the fly with a cavern of souls, the extra red in this land is just going to slow you down. try 20-22 lands+1 swamp+1 Rancor+1 Diregraf Ghoul - Gotta get real aggressive here, any of these cards in large amounts with rancor are going to get you there, FAST.+4 Rakdos Cackler
That's an even 60 cards, if you feel you need 1-2 more lands, try moving some of those abrupt decay's or ultimate price's to the sideboard, they're both situational removal, which can be a bit wonky.I would assume that abrupt decay is better though.Good luck!
This is a very good deck. I play test most of my decks against it and barely ever get anything that consistently beats it. I would say to remove Deathhead Shaman. I have used this deck many times and never seen it be particularly useful.
Maybe just do +1 Slitherhead and +1 Diregraf Ghoul or something. But either way, good work.
I playtest against this deck all of the time. I play a Bant Control deck and always struggle against this. Good work. I gave you a +1 a long time ago.

You should use Slitherhead over Deathrite Shaman . The shaman is slow and doesn't work well with most of this deck. Slitherhead also loves on Lotleth Troll hard.
