Jodah Omnitell (Competitive EDH)

Commander / EDH* Combo Competitive Five Color

inGtSToRm

Welcome! This is my first brew for competitive EDH. I’ve been playing a Kess storm list for the past few months and with the new release of Dominaria, I wanted to see how creative I could get and what’s more creative than all 5 colors?

This deck is BUDGETLESS. So, keep in mind there can be cuts made, especially in the land department. But, one of the deck’s main win conditions is Hermit Druid so be careful not to throw any basics in the deck.

This deck might be for you if you enjoy:

  • Sneak & Show or Omnitell in Legacy.

  • Playing with an expensive mana base.

  • Having a few different paths to win.

  • Playing combo.

  • Having combo-stopping interaction.

This deck may not be for you if you enjoy:

  • Playing mono or 2 colors.

  • Dropping big Eldrazi beaters.

  • Having 1 or 2 central paths to victory.

  • Not shuffling your deck multiple times a game.

  • Playing your commander every game.

This deck has a few different ways to win the game and a good handful of tutors to support any wincon. Here’s what we’re trying to do:

Omnitell

Flash Wincons

  • Another way to win off of Omniscience is to have Flash and Academy Rector in hand to sacrifice the Rector as soon as it comes out so that we can fetch Omniscience and play whatever else we need to.

  • Flash isn’t only for Academy Rector though, I’ve thrown in Protean Hulk so we have another flash outlet. If you aren’t already familiar with Flash-Hulk,we play:

  1. Flash into Protean Hulk so that we can sacrifice the hulk right away to find Grand Abolisher (as a piece of protection), Cephalid Illusionist, Nomads en-Kor, and Hapless Researcher.
  2. The Nomads en-Kor can target Cephalid Illusionist with its ability for free, putting our whole deck into the graveyard and triggering Narcomoeba so that we have 5 creatures on the battlefield.
  3. Next, we sacrifice Nomads en-Kor, Cephalid Illusionist, and Narcomoeba to flashback Dread Return either bringing back Laboratory Maniac or Angel of Glory's Rise (which is just another way to bring back lab maniac)
  4. Finally, sacrificing Hapless Researcher we can’t draw a card, so we win the game.

Hermit Druid

  • To compensate for having all of the Flash Hulk combo pieces in the deck, I decided a Hermit Druid line was justified. The concept is very similar and only adds 2 cards to the deck. This line is as follows:
  1. Play Hermit Druid and use its ability, milling our library and putting Narcomoeba into play.
  2. Unearth Fatestitcher so we have a 3rd creature on the field.
  3. Flashback Dread Return, sacrificing our creatures to put Angel of Glory's Rise on the battlefield which brings Laboratory Maniac, Azami, Lady of Scrolls.

Tooth & Nail

There are a few different 2 creature combos that are fetchable with Tooth and Nail a couple are Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Pestermite/Deceiver Exarch and Cephalid Illusionist + Nomads en-Kor. Deadeye Navigator + Eternal Witness with something like Time Stretch in the graveyard basically goes infinite as well.

All of our tutors

This deck aims to assemble 2 or 3 cards as quick as possible. Tutors let us get these cards as soon as we need them (obviously).

Stifle

Mostly just a combo breaker. We sadly can’t stifle a players Show and Tell But, we can stifle The triggered ability of their Reclimation sage or Bane of Progress.

Birthing Pod

An easy sacrifice outlet for Academy Rector and Protean Hulk if we aren’t able to find Flash fast enough.

Time Stretch

Turn 4 Jodah, Archmage Eternal turn 5 Time Stretch? Seems good to me. This could also be faster assuming we played mana rocks in the earlier turns.

No suggestions have been made yet. This deck is in its earliest stages. So, changes are sure to be made depending on certain cards performances.
