My LGS has started doing Five-Oh EDH: build a deck with a budget of fifty dollars (basic lands don't count as anything; final price is calculated using TCGplayer mid or market, but all must be the same).

I took this budget restriction as an excuse to revisit my first ever commander. As a Timmy, Jhoira is my girl. The idea of the deck is nothing new: control the game for as long as possible and either hard cast or suspend a big fatty that wins you the game. Obviously our big boys are restricted by price, but kards like Kederekt Leviathan or Pathrazer of Ulamog still need to be answered, just like their Ulamog or Kozilek cousins.

While you are waiting for these finishers to show up, countermagic and board clears is the name of the game. There's also a few small creatures like fog bank to help slow the game down.
