Jarad and his Yard Party

Commander / EDH

SpasticNinja

Jarad Shenanigans!

This is a super fun/mean deck. It's riddled with combos and graveyard fun.

You would enjoy playing this deck if...

-You enjoy killing multiple people with one move

-You like playing in the graveyard

-You like making people sacrifice things

You would not enjoy this deck if

-Your play group doesn't play with power cards

-You don't enjoy infinite combos

-The graveyard isn't your thing.

Although you don't need Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord to win he is a major player in this deck. The playgroup I play with all use quite overpowered decks, because isn't that what EDH is really about? I love his ability to cause loss of life to everyone at once. Why kill one person at a time when you can just wipe everyone out in one stroke?

Win conditions

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord + Lord of Extinction This is a semi-late game win con. Not infinite, fairly common combo in a Jarad deck.

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord + Phyrexian Devourer

This fun little combo is an instant win if no one has a response, so make sure to time it properly. Basically you have Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord out, play Phyrexian Devourer and use his ability to pump him up. The nice part is you can keep pumping him up as a response to his sacrifice trigger. When the Phyrexian Devourer is large enough to wipe everyone out, sac him using Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion

Kinda a dirty infinite combo, but it gets the job done. One of the reasons I run Defense of the Heart. I could also throw in Tooth and Nail to pull this off but it really isn't the most satisfying win.

Combos that don't necessarily win but are fun

Skullclamp + Bloodsoaked Champion or + Bloodghast

This is just for a shit load of card draw, also both Bloodsoaked Champion and Bloodghast pull some major work in this deck. They also partner well with Butcher of Malakir, Grave Pact, and Birthing Pod.

Crucible of Worlds + Strip Mine

Dirty again, but sometimes you just need to get rid of some lands.

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord + Phyrexian Dreadnought

Not a win, but if Jarad is out, this is basically four mana for 12 damage to everyone's face.

Also a fun one that I just got to play was Phyrexian Dreadnought + Greater Good. This was awesome. You get to draw 12 cards, and discard at least 3 (probably more depending on current hand size) getting some major card advantage and dropping stuff of in the graveyard such as Genesis or Filth

This deck is not invulnerable, but probably the biggest killer to it is graveyard hate, so watch out for that.

There are still more changes I want to make, but I'm pretty happy with how it runs at the moment. My next card on my acquire list is Hatred because why not have another win con?
