Zany Izzet, Wacky Wizards

Commander / EDH

Joe_Paterno

Niv-Mizzet is my spirit animal. As a fellow lazy pseudo-intellectual, I too enjoy pretending like I know everything worth knowing. Indeed, The Firemind's main ability of annoyingly poking, prodding, and pinging a target every time you draw is a good way to keep people on their toes as well as getting coke dumped on your cards (thank God for double sleeves!), and helps set you up for big swings using cards like The Immortal Sun and a transformed Docent of Perfection combined with an army of wizards. It's a very straight-forward, wide, red/blue creature deck.

Except this is Magic. This deck is full of meandering, ADD-riddled wizards who succeed by their weird intuition, their wits, and sheer fucking luck, and that's exactly what's in front of you.

Borrowing from the big, bad cEDH blue decks that produce infinite draws to intentionally deck out and win with Laboratory Maniac, the main strategy behind this deck is to utilize the Curiosity/Firemind loop to win with a deck-out. However, a more stylish win-con from this same loop involves having more cards in your deck than your opponents' combined life totals, allowing to burn them with draws.

If Curiosity is not immediately available, you can start an infinite mana loop with Oboro Breezecaller and the Patron of the Moon floating two random lands back and forth from hand while repeatedly tapping and untapping Lotus Vale. Once the desired mana count is achieved, you can drop a nuclear proc from Nin, the Pain artist to deal the opponent's remaining deck count worth of damage to a creature.

Ouch.

Nin can also be used in conjunction with Laboratory Maniac to nuke one of your own creatures for the win via deckout. Other options for the targeted card-draw include Blue Sun's Zenith (the classic infinite mana deckout play) and any combination of the two.

If you've ever wanted to say the words "I tap my commander and win, good game fellas," then this is absolutely the deck for you.
