A modern Izzet deck with a central focus on drawing.

I'm not against letting my opponent draw. Actually, I'm all for it. Get a few Font of Mythos out, then throw a Cerebral Vortex at them and/or a Runeflare Trap (nothing like 12 damage for R).

Just to clear up some issues that arose while playing. You can play spells such as Runeflare Trap after they draw and before their main phase. Here's an article describing a turn. The important piece of that is:

Draw: Just draw your card. If your opponent wishes to play an effect during your draw step they will warn you during your upkeep, or immediately as your draw your card.

Example: Wait; after you draw your card, still in your draw step, Ill make you discard with Piracy Charm .

That article was printed before M10, so some rules have changed (like floating mana during your upkeep step and using it during your draw step or main phase), but there were no changes to how this interaction would work. Changes can be found in this article.

Back-up plan, swing at them with any creature holding a Sword of War and Peace to make use of all the card drawing that's going on.

Sideboard changes up the gameplay so I don't have to target them with Runeflare Trap s. I can suspend Sway of the Stars with Jhoira of the Ghitu, then suspend a Cerebral Vortex or Runeflare Trap the following turn to put them on a 3 turn clock.

Or I can swing with a Spellbound Dragon and discard Sway of the Stars for an extra 10 power, or Runeflare Trap for an extra 6.

Thoughts? I'm trying to make this playable in modern, but it seems to be a little lacking. I figured I might have to go with an actual sideboard instead of a separate combo, so I put actual sideboard cards in the maybe board.

+1s are always welcome

PS: I know there are more than 60 cards in the deck. This was done on purpose. With the amount of card draw from the Font of Mythos and Howling Mine I could end up decking. The extra 10 cards is just to ensure that they will deck first if it comes down to that.
