"It's a bug hunt." -Cpl. Hicks

Commander / EDH* Control UR (Izzet)

MisterCasey

While I already have a The Locust God deck that concentrates on wheel and draw effects, I thought it might be fun to explore other options. And really, if the locusts swarm, is there really supposed to be anything left standing in the (battle)field?

This has more of a control feel, with a lot of bounce to keep me alive until either the bugs come or some of the other win-cons can take effect.

While it is nice to work toward the Ashnod's Altar Skullclamp The Locust God combo, given the number of tokens the deck tends to produce the pieces are rarely wasted as a source of mana or card draw.

Talrand, Sky Summoner fits nicely, giving added value to the instants and sorceries that make up the bulk of the deck, with Metallurgic Summonings creating a little redundancy. There are a critical mass of 2-cmc instants in there that make Isochron Scepter a viable piece that can set him off with unlimited drake tokens.

The deck is made to be semi-competitive especially in the 1-v-1 setting, so I am trying to keep it both EDH/Commander and French/Duel Commander legal.

Partly, I wanted to have an answer when my teenage daughter takes the Arabho, Roar of the World deck out, so it is also fast enough and controlling to compete with her fast aggro.
