I decided to finally make work of improving the Mizzix precon I received last year. I decided to avoid infinite combos this time (mainly because I feel like for this particular deck my games would revolve only around tutoring/searching for combo pieces and going off).

I decided I wanted to cast spells, copy spells and make a storm count as big as possible.

Battle Plan

The plan is to get Mizzix of the Izmagnus out as soon as possible and get at least 1 or 2 exerience counters out. After this it depends, if Mizzix is still alive we'll start snowballing thanks to the experience counters out. If he dies we'll wait to have at least 1 counterspell in hand before casting him again.

I noticed that the critical mass for Mizzix in terms of power starts at 4 experience counters, from here on out we can usually play a couple sorceries on our turn and wait while being able to leave enough mana open for defense.

Firemind's Foresight: if we have a big number of experience counters I aim to grab Fall of the Titans, Comet Storm and Urza's Rage . Another option at the 3cmc spot would be Stroke of Genius.

Inexorable Tide is in the deck because it allows us to raise our experience count even when Mizzix has left the board. It also buffs our planeswalkers fast.

I am aware I don't have some staples in the deck, the one and only reason this is the case is I wanted to limit myself to cards I own.

Comments (and/or upvotes) are always welcome.

Update 30/06/2017

I played this version of the deck for the first time tonight in a 3-player pod. I was facing an unchanged Breya, Etherium Shaper deck and a kind of tuned Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief deck. Whenever I played Mizzix, he got killed on sight (didn't survive until it was my turn again). Doubling spells however turned out to be nice. While I didn't have anything to double when Melek, Izzet Paragon was out, Meletis Charlatan managed to win me the game. I was down at 5 life, my opponents were at 5 (Drana) and 48 (Breya, clearly winning until then). Both were tapped out... and I managed to draw Expropriate with 12 mana available. This lead to me stealing some stuff and me taking 3 extra turns... on the last of those I finally managed to go off.

While it's fun to win this game, for a long time I didn't do anything... mainly because I didn't draw anything to draw cards off, this is definitely something I'll have a look at when thinking of upgrading the deck.
