Is Quest for Ula's Temple viable in Modern?

Eh, probably not. But that doesn't mean I won't try! Quest for Ula's Temple is definitely one of the weirder Quests out there. But you just can't say no to a possible Turn 2 Inkwell Leviathan!

The Win-Con:

• Quest for Ula's Temple: Why, the whole theme of the deck, of course! Can take a while to get it up to three charge counters, but once you've got it, you can play one of your big boi Leviathans every turn.

The Leviathans:

• Grozoth: The best Leviathan in the deck. Can give you all the Inkwell Leviathans in your library as soon as it enters, which is fantastic. Can also be transmuted for another Grozoth in your deck if you absolutely need to shuffle your library or something.

• Inkwell Leviathan: Three words: Islandwalk, Trample, Shroud. And did I mention it's a 7/11? Beautiful.

• Stormtide Leviathan: Its CMC is 8, so it can't be tutored with Grozoth. However, its ability to make your opponents' lands Islands should not be overlooked, as it makes itself and your Inkies unblockable. Also, your opponents pretty much won't be able to attack you, making it very useful against aggro especially.

The Other Creatures

• Wall of Runes: Solid blocker for one mana and a scry for setting up a creature on top of your library. Nice.

• Skyship Plunderer: Helps put additional quest counters on Quest for Ula's Temple to speed up the process. Downside is that it only works if it already has one on it.

• Thrummingbird: Basically a slightly weaker Skyship Plunderer.

• Judge's Familiar: Nothing fancy, just a worse Disrupt on a creature. Can be useful against any enchantment removal targeting your precious Quest for Ula's Temple or your Leviathans.

• Sphinx of Foresight: I don't really know, I have a single copy of it since scry is bae and being able to scry 3 at the start of the game is fantastic, especially with a Turn 1 Quest for Ula's Temple. And casting it isn't too bad either, with a scry on your upkeep every turn.

The Spells

• Clockspinning: Sticks one additional counter on Quest for Ula's Temple for just one mana, and two counters if you have four mana. As with Skyship Plunderer and Thrummingbird, though, it only works if Quest already has at least one counter on it.

• Dizzy Spell: Tutors for Quest for Ula's Temple or any other one-drop you need, like Clockspinning. Can also be casted if necessary.

The Lands

• Island: Pretty sure you'll need these.

• Dryad Arbor: I know it looks strange, especially since this is a mono-blue deck, but a land that's also a creature is perfect for Quest for Ula's Temple.

• Misty Rainforest: Shuffles your library. Obviously should be used to fetch an Island, don't know why you'd use it for Dryad Arbor. But you can, if you want to.

• Halimar Depths: Produces blue mana and a psuedo-scry 3 for Quest for Ula's Temple.

• Zhalfirin Void: An actual scry (1) effect for Quest. Produces colorless mana, but it does enter untapped.
