People normally play 4 Hedron Crabs in mill decks?

Have you considered it? In case yes, what led you to not use it?

I chose to forgive the crab in favor of additional removal as Ive found that most decks that run only 4 creatures rarely get to efficiently utilize them as most opponents run an excess of creature removal. Simply put it comes down to consistency over theme. Hedron Crab would simply see to much hate to make him excessively useful while simultaneously offering us too weak of a blocker to be of any bother.

Yup, that makes a lot of sense.

Being a creature that gets hit by Bolt, Path and Push makes him literally dead in pretty much every possible scenario.

And I suppose having some Fatal Push on your mainboard gives you some room for breathing. Nice idea!

I would mess with the mana base. I am using Field of Ruin now rather than Ghost Quarter. Why? Because it triggers archive trap 100% for sure, players must search libraries, and you get a land back. Also, you won't crack Ghost Quarter early anyway, so only 2-3 Field of Ruin is needed.

Staying alive is important 8n Modern so Watery Grave is a dubious choice. Any burn player would thank you for using them. I would swap I 2x Sunken Hollow So you can still grab "Island Swamps", But you don't have to pain yourself in late game.

I would also drop to 2 Darkslick Shores and add in a second swamp so you don't die to blood moon.

Finally, add in at least 2x more of either Misty Rainforest or Flooded Strand for consistency and to thin out the deck. I would even replace the Watery Graves with those if possible for less pain.

Check out this list Modern Delver Mill and you will see how I constructed a very consistent mana base for a mill deck.

Regarding Crabs, you are right about them being hate magnets. That is why I run other creatures like Delver and Jaces Phantasm. Usually an opponent fails to expect a mill deck to punch back and seeing 5/5 and 3/2 flyers when they wasted a push, path, bolt, etc on a crab makes them sad.

But since you sold out on Fraying Sanity, Crab is H.U.G.E. with fetch lands, he mills 12! That for 1 total mana is better than anything but archive trap. I would try and find a home for them in the deck just for that reason. But I think you mill faster than the brew I devised.
