When I originally set out to make my first mono-green EDH deck I wanted one as un-gimmicky as possible--a deck where the commander could be Nylea, God of the Hunt, Surrak, the Hunt Caller, Omnath, Locus of Mana, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, Hua Tuo, Honored Physician, or even Autumn Willow and it wouldn't matter. Draw cards, ramp a bit, play big creatures. Stompy is what I'm going for.
I also wanted to make a Yisan, the Wanderer Bard deck since I love Bards in D&D, so I did: Fochlucan Lyrist -- (Yisan Elves). Yisan ain't exactly straightforward (he is in his way), so I thought I'd at least throw together a mono-green list more similar to what I initially imagined. I have been picking through the bargain bin at the card shop and snagging green cards for a while now so my collection STILL has enough that I could throw together a deck with mostly what I have on hand.
Don't get me wrong; I love my Yisan deck. It's fun and stomps face. I was just aiming for an un-complicated deck.
So I just bought the commander and perhaps four or five other cards and the rest was originally put together from my collection! I have since added lots upgrades here and there but this deck is, at heart, a bulk-rare kind of deck.

Updates Add
Adding upgrades. Took out almost all voltron-y things and added more beef, draw, and fight stuff. A lot of this was stuff I already had on-hand from precons and the bargain bin at my LGS and the like. I only bought the Spearbreaker Behemoth
and Tempting Licid specifically. The Return of the Wildspeaker, Shared Summons, and Wrap in Vigor I bought a while back just for my general collection with the intention of sliding some into my decks-including this one eventually.
