1st FNM —Feb. 18, 2017

5th place / 20 total - Record 3-2

Blue/Black stitcher's graft 2-0

Mardu vehicles 2-0

Green/Red Pummler 1-2

Bant good stuff 2-1

Sahelli Combo 0-2

Overall I was very impressed with the deck. In the pummler match I believe I sideboarded wrong. Instead of taking out creativity and playing straight control like I had planned, I was greedy and excited to test the fun part of the deck and greatly reduced my chances of winning. Mardu had very strong starts and it could not get past the angel(s). Very happy about these being included in the main. They put up a wall that build on each other. Great if we have an ulamog OR planeswalker(s).

So, what to do about saheeli? 4 Shock and 1authority of consuls was not enough to stop it this time. I think Void Winnower is the bomb I needed! Almost all of their spells are even, including the important Felidar Guardian. Perhaps another way to do better in this matchup, and any control opponent for that matter, is to play Combustible Gearhulk in place of the Angel of Invention as well (can make this swap for any match where the angel feels bad, like against walking balista). This gives us both card advantage and it is bigger than their Torrential Gearhulk?

Is my thinking correct? I also considered bane of gala bed, but it has no way to protect itself, and neither do I :P So for now ill try out the above strategy.

If you all could help against this match up, and help hone the side board for the meta it would be greatly appreciated

*Also, you may have noticed I change things up frequently and am constantly tweaking this build. Its being tested every day, and the most up-to-date version will be on here. Thanks for the feedback everyone, and ill post how it goes at Sunday's PPTQ coming up

Really like the idea. However, maybe have something like Fleeting Memories or Confront the Unknown, something that Investigates and doesnt need a target. Jace's Scrutiny is also a cheap Investigate control-ish card that would help get a clue faster

Neat deck. I thought you might want to drop some of the counters in favor of more kill-spells, including Radiant Flames in main board as this is control with no creatures, but it was fun to play. As long as you don't get hit with a Lost Legacy, you should be fine.

I would take out the Weirding Wood as you will normally draw the 4 lands you need by turn 4, and move Root Out to sideboard as it will often be a dead card against non-artifact match-ups, and bring in 4 Jace's Scrutiny and 2 Glimmer of Genius to control them, and assemble the combo quicker. Also, I LOVE this combo, it seems so sweet! :)

Really cool deck. It certainly seems difficult to deal with a turn 4 Ulamog. Have you considered Mechanized Production as an alternate win/con or a sideboard plan to throw off the opponent that maybe boarded in some answers to Ulamog? Happy brewing!

All you're really missing is the ability to give Ulamog haste.

I like the idea. I put together a similar deck using a Mardu shell. Mine was a little more servo/planeswalker focused. My problem with Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger is that he loses his x2 annihilator ability when using Indomitable Creativity. He also can be blocked by anything because he has no evasive ability. My though was that Kozilek, the Great Distortion may actually be a better choice. Though it too loses a great ability, it has menace and is +2/+2 stronger. Since you are already in blue, you will likely have lots of cards to use his counter spell ability as well. Just a though. Cheers!

Ares666 divinagon Wonky.wombat. Cragon18 KaraZorEl Vonderbar What do you guys think? Took in all the suggestions, cant respond to each specifically, but I decided to drop green, pick up the white for token sac'ing instead. Also allows for better non-creativity hands. Control has a terrible time dealing with us too, becuase there are so many cards that make 2 creatures.

I think you should just go 4x Gideon, since popping out a 2/2 token can give you Ulamog on the same turn, instead of passing and giving your opponent a chance to play removal.

I have make a Similar deck but using red blue control..

i would suggest get rid of 1 ulamog and replace with 1 Void Winnover, so in turn 5 you can call 2 creature with 2 clue instead of 1 since legendary rule.

I think mine is interesting also! What ya think?

I really feel you need to get up to 24 lands. Every time I goldfish the deck I don't have near enough mana.

The color change and moving towards tokens and away from clues has been a huge improvement for the deck. Well done and keep up the good work.

I think that you may want to put all of the targets other than ulamogs into sideboard, so that you have maximum consistency, as nothing is more disappointing than getting the nut draw, indominatable creativity turn four, and then you hit a Odric. Other than that though, I really like the changes made to the deck :)

I agree with Wonky.wombat.. You'd be better off sticking with the Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hungers and the one Linvala, the Preserver. Also, you spells are looking a little strange, so I would say turn the Angelic Purge and one Oath of Gideon into two more Immolating Glare.

Replace Servo Exhibition with Expose Evil. You're not going to win with a Servo beatdown which means those Servos are just going to chump-block when you're not using them as targets for Indomitable Creativity, so why not tap down your opponent's attackers instead of letting them swing in the first place?

BlaineTog he gets two targets rather than one. On top of that, Servo Exhibition helps against decks without many creatures.
