Combo Helper =
almost Infinite Damage / Health / Mill / Draw
Using the Soulshift chain (i.e. Soulshift 5 to raise a Soulshift 4 > sac to raise a Soulshift 3 > sac to raise a Soulshift 2 > ... res and repeat) can create a near infinite combo. Each time you have 1 of each Soulshift (1-5) spirits on the board, along with a (B) mana spirit
Plagued Rusalka
, sacrificing in the order of least mana to greatest mana, while inbetween Soulshifts, sacrificing each lower cost spirit again, (i.e. (B), (BB), (B), (BBB), (BB), (B), (BBBB), (BBB), (BB), (B), etc...), you end up with 21 graveyard hits/21 into play hits, triggering each Combo Helper 21 times. Each time you return a Soulshift 5 to the field from the graveyard after this combo, you can repeat this combo for another 6 hits. If you happen to have Nether Traitor in play, and sacrifice/resurrect him inbetween each phase of this combo, you double your graveyard/into play hits, for a total of 42 (+ 12 per each additional Soulshift 5 resurrection). I hope that explanation wasn't too hard to follow; I will list the steps of the combo in detail below for clarification.

Staples:
[Show] [Hide] These cards are what make this deck what it is. Removing them would be a stupid idea, and would most likely ruin a ridiculous deck.
Note: I have purposely left out a lot of the well known staples that are in this deck, like
Cabal Coffers, because even though they are helpful for most mono-black decks, this deck does not heavily rely on them.
1) Iname, Death Aspect Obviously..duh! 2) Necropotence This one is a deal breaker. Necro makes the 2, 3, 4 turn wins much more likely, and is all around a very strong card
(IF USED CORRECTLY!!!). Necro can just as easily lose you the game as it can win it. Knowing when to use this card in this deck can be one of the most challenging parts of running this deck. Use it wisely!
3) Culling the Weak
Dark Offering
Songs of the Damned These cards are the bread and butter which make this a competitive deck. As black has a rough time ramping up the mana pool quickly, these cards can make the difference between winning and losing in most games. Without these cards, turn 2, 3, 4, 5 wins are extremely difficult if not impossible with this deck. Timing is everything with these, and using these without forethought will make comboing very difficult.
4) Fetches Should be obvious, but just in case...This deck relies heavily on fetches (tutors). There are a number of combos in this deck; some can be mixed and matched, others can't. In most cases, a single fetch is all you need to meet win conditions, but two fetches are always better than one...which is why there are 9 in this deck...
5) Deathgreeter
Dross Harvester
These two cards don't look too threatening, however, most of the cards in this deck suck the life out of you, so these two guys are here to help you get it back.
6) Lethal Vapors This deck all started because of this card...Over time, I lessened the deck's dependence on it, however, it still plays an important role. This card has three purposes, first, it makes your opponent(s) think twice about throwing creatures into play; second, it has the possibility of forcing your opponent to skip their turn; and third, this card can go combo crazy with most of the card combos in this deck. Without needing a sacrifice target effect, you can kill off your creatures repeatedly for the trigger effects on your
Combo Helper.
