EDIT: Savagery Redux! (8/9/13)

Just got back into MtG after about a 15 year absence, right after Return to Ravnica came out. So, I started to draft packs with some friends, read a LOT... built a Simic deck, turned it into a bit of counter manipulation, went further Bant/Control, splashed Black... Changed a lot, (played some other decks, really wanted to come back to this one) changed a lot back (kinda). And this is about where I'm at now. Took probably a bit more than some inspiration from Detora's Wolf Run Ramp... except without the wolf run.

Idea is: a bit of control early with Gyre Sage out to either evolve or chump, Forced Adaptation either grows Gyre/mana or whatever is out, Negate, Oblivion Ring, Detention Sphere for removal if necessary etc. Rhox Faithmender pairs great with Thragtusk or Cathedral Sanctifier entering. I can exile Thrag for the Beast token and its evolve, then chump with High Priest of Penance and use its ability to destroy the ring or the sphere and with rhox out gain 10 life; evolve everything again, use Gyre Sage's mana to cast Increasing Savagery on unblockable Elusive Krasis, and then flashback right away with lands for an unblockable 15/19. Hit that with Gift of Orzhova and gain 30 life per swing... Farseek helps catch up for all the gates & dual lands, Gyre Sage + Forced Adaptation and just one U from anywhere can make Syncopate a huge problem later on...hopefully you get the idea.

It's a bit slow sometimes, and thats why I took out Contaminated Ground for now, but it has beat Boros and Dimir (thanks for letting me go right to Increasing Savagery for +10/+10 from the graveyard) a couple times, and plays with relative consistency otherwise.

I had some Cloudfin Raptor and they were really my only fliers without Gift of Orzhova so I'm thinking I should throw them back in, or some gross spider with reach. The ring/sphere removal works well enough usually, but against cheap fliers or Skyknight Legionnaire on the draw it's not enough. If I do have Syncopate sometimes they're tapped out or close enough, but it's not all that reliable.
