What's more embarrassing than being beaten by an opponent's defenders? Being trampled by their lands.

This deck is focussed on getting lands onto the field, lots of them. Then, it uses cheap, one-mana Genju enchantments to make the lands into beefy creatures that squash your opponents. Late game, Genju of the Realm can make an appearance. The best thing about this deck is that the Genju are sacrificial. If your opponent kills a Genju, the enchantment goes back into your hand and you can probably cast it right back out on the same turn. Then, the destroyed land gets brought back by cards such as Groundskeeper and Tilling Treefolk. Even if you can't get one of these, there's always new lands to spare.

This deck is very consistent, for the price. If you start getting into the later game, you'll see exponential land growth. With all the basic-land-finding spells that are included in this deck, every turn you'll have more mana to spend on basic-land finding spells. And Genju, of course.

Let's analyze the cards:

  • 16x Forest: the heart of the deck. You need these for almost everything, and with sixteen, you're guaranteed to have a few in the starting hand.
  • 4x Mountain: The other most important card in the deck. We need one to summon Genju of the Spires, which will be doing most of the hitting in this deck. If we can draw one, good. If not, we can tutor one easily.
  • 1x Island, 1x Plains, 1x Swamp: just one of each in the main deck, to get tutored out if you want to summon a Genju of the Realm. We don't want to get these, otherwise. If you really want a Genju of the Realms and are facing the great of land destruction, there are two more of each land in the sideboard.
  • 2x Ainok Guide: the important thing that this card adds is a little flexibility. For 1G, it's still a cheap investment. However, you can choose whether you want it to be a 2/2 or if you need a basic land tutor.
  • 4x Groundskeeper: this card is very important for when your Genju start dying. The enchantments themselves come back to your hand, but the lands won't. With this, you can get back any destroyed lands. Also, it'll help if your opponent knocks out your Island, Plains, or Swamp in an effort to stop you from summoning a Genju of the Realm.
  • 2x Tilling Treefolk: only two of these, you'll probably not need that many lands returned from your graveyard. Just in case, Tilling Treefolk has your back.

  • 4x Caravan Vigil: having a basic land tutor for one green mana seemed like a good idea. It's unlikely that the morbid effect will trigger, but bonus points if it does.

  • 3x Journey of Discovery: tutor two basic lands or put them into the field, not tapped, for only 2G. And you can do both for 4GG.
  • 4x Rampant Growth: a two-mana land tutor that also puts it onto the battlefield tapped.
  • 4x Search for Tomorrow: more flexibility. If it's early game, you can suspend it for one green mama, and let it pay off later. If you have mana to spare, cast It right away to tutor for and put a land, not tapped, into the battlefield.

  • 4x Sword of the Animist: sadly, the budget makes it impossible for Nissa to be in this deck, but her sword can make an appearance. This sword can be stuck on a sacrificial Ainok Guide or Tilling Treefolk and then you can merrily swing away to bring more lands to the field.

  • 4x Genju of the Cedars: a nice 4/4 that can pop out on your second or third turn. It covers the weaknesses of Genju of the Spires.

  • 2x Genju of the Realm: if you decide things are taking too long. There are only two, because you don't want to get stuck with one of these in your early hand.
  • 4x Genju of the Spires: the star of the deck. A 6/1 creature on turn 3 that can start decimating your opponent. And it doesn't even matter if the Genju gets killed, it'll come right back.
