This is a blue-white control deck, which focuses on keeping the opponents' creatures tapped and unable to attack, destroying them, and then going in for the kill.

Win Conditions

There is only one very simple win condition:

  • Stall long enough to get the opponents' creatures out of the way, then attack.

Primary Deck Concepts

Removing blockers can be achieved in two ways:

  1. Tap creatures with the many tapping spells.
  2. Then kill tapped creatures through Siren's Call or Sunblast Angel .

The two big finishers are:

  1. Gideon's Avenger , who can get enormous if you get him out early enough.
  2. Sunblast Angel , a 4/5 flyer.

If you aren't drawing either of those, the many tapping spells should be enough to keep you alive until you draw one of them.

Kami of False Hope can provide cheap defense, but the real reason for it is so that a Siren's Call does not backfire when it is used on an opponent who has creatures available to attack. Some replacements for Kami:

  • Holy Day only costs 1, but in comparison, Kami provides a blocker and a "free" cast of Holy Day when there's no mana left
  • Dawn Charm costs 2, but gives you options, including limited counterspell and regeneration
  • Fog Bank costs 2, and gives you flying, but it only nullifies damage from a single creature
  • Angelsong costs 2, and gives you card draw if you need something more than damage prevention
  • Pollen Lullaby costs 2, and its Clash ability synergizes well with the deck (I'm just not much of a gambler and dislike Clash)

Budget Considerations

To make this even more budget-friendly, replace Glacial Fortress with Azorius Guildgate or similar.

If budget isn't a concern, then the planeswalker Tamiyo, the Moon Sage is a great addition.
