Lightning Helix instead of Purphoros? And maybe take out Monastery Mentor for Champion of the Parish, because if you're focusing on human tokens, he can get big really quick.

Actually forget what I said about lightning helix, sorry haha

@monokuro_ I am not focusing on human generation, I am nearly focusing of recurable mass token generation to trigger etb damage.

How has Quarantine Field performed for you?

I choose not to utilize weaker non recurable creature sources as I often have the mana and the time to generate a domineering late game. As for Quarantine Field I often utilize it late game and make use of it from 2-3 targets, however it is acceptable to run for single spot removal even if it is a bit high in cost. This deck doesn't really mind waiting for your opponents to come to you as it is pretty pillow forty.

In the first two turns it seems you only have 6 six cards in the deck that could be played, only the 3 copies of Path to Exile being able to interact. If you don't get Ghostly Prison out on turn 3, surviving any aggro deck seems unlikely. You might also want to run a few more lands because your curve is pretty high.

Norin the Wary? Seems like a good fit.

I actually have 8 cards I can play between turns 1 and 2 as you probably forgot to account for Terminus but I did descide to take Herald of Anafenza over Thraben Doomsayer in order to have added early game at the cost of mid game consistency.

Hmmm. I hadn't thought about Terminus. It is a sweet card but you don't have any cards to screw with the top cards of your deck so I'm not totally sure about it. Herald of Anafenza seems a bit slow. Even against burn or stompy which don't play huge creatures he'd usually just be chump blocking. Lightning Bolt on the other hand is very effective removal and will trigger Monastery Mentor in the mid to late game.

As this deck does have limited space I have chosen to replace mana with cards that offer me devotion toward Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx so replacing many of my permenants that provide white devotion is out of the question as I require said devotion to fuel my mid to late token rush.

Just to let you know, your +1 button is broken. Great deck, +1 from me.

Ok I tested the button and it works again. Thankyou for notifying me about the error.

Would you consider Secure the Wastes as a card for your deck? Even a one-of would make a late game finisher. Also Outpost Siege might be handy, be it khans or dragons. Id say reduce from mentor of the meek to make room for atleast one secure the wastes.

Eidolon of Rhetoric for both enchantment and creature triggers while fortifying the fort?

January 21, 2016 8:07 a.m.

ArchFline says... #16

I find Secure the Wastes to be inefficient, and Outpost Siege to be a bit high cost for what it does but it is tempting, although I would dislike loseing field control or my minion potential in place of such an alternative. As for Eidolon of Rhetoric I love the concept of him but find him to be fat to easy to remove. I have used him in other decks before and usually I drop him turn 3 to see him destroyed before my next turn :/ and because I don't run cards to protect my field I can warrant running something like that. To any end thank you both for commenting, I appreciate the feed back.

How can secure the wastes be inefficient? With impact tremors only and nykthos on the table you should deal easily 10+ damage. And it's instant speed!

I think he considers Secure the Wastes to be inefficient because when compared to Elspeth, Sun's Champion it is not very efficient. Elspeth can potentially create far more than the 5 tokens her mana cost would have given you if you had been casting Secure the Wastes. This deck is more grindy and the ability to one-shot someone late game isn't particularly useful.

Fair enough.

How about Elemental Mastery + Midnight Guard or just Elemental Mastery?

You'll be placing a lot of expendable creatures, triggering your ETB abilities and can be used to overwhelm in case your opponent has hexproof or can be used as chump blockers.

I like the idea of of a strong token generating combo, but I've found that I lose substantial consistency when I've tried combos such as that.

Mercy Killing seems like it could potentially put in some good work here. It's a versatile little card. On your own creatures, especially Archangel of Tithes and Hangarback Walker--both major magnets for removal-- it gets some good triggers off of Purphoros and Impact Tremors while your creature is on its way out anyway. Against your opponents, it gives them creatures that end up being essentially useless against pillow fort. And it can take out indestructible stuff.

Honestly, if you are concerned about efficiency, Quarantine Field is not fabulous. Boros gets no ramp, and that mana cost is just too much.

You'll also obviously want to get a sideboard for this. Rest in Peace, Stony Silence, Erase, Faith's Shield, and Mark of Asylum should cover just about all of your bases. Faith's Shield may even be worth mainboarding, since without some of your key enchantments here, you could end up pretty hosed.

Norin the Wary and Genesis chamber. Triggers for days

January 25, 2016 6:13 p.m.

ArchFline says... #24

@Chhaam thank you for the idea I had completely forgotten about that combo, I will play test it to see how things fair. @NoSoyYucateco thank you for the commenting, I did require a sideboard but just never got around to adding it in. Tell me what you think of the one I added, it seems to cover most of my bases.

Chhaam says... #25

@ArchFline even norin by himself does a lot, but chamber really amps up the damage. I'm running boros soul sisters so the life gain triggers matter more than the damage in most cases really. I think norin would be really nice in your deck though.
