With Ikoria spoilers starting to roll out, I am building commander decks to test out some of the new legendary creatures. Kathril, Aspect Warper is first up. For 2WBG you get a 3/3 Legendary Creature-Nightmare Insect that cares about two things, creatures being in your graveyard, and those creatures having a ton of keyword abilities like Trample or Hexproof. When Kathril enters the battlefield, you can distribute those keywords (1 per entry to the battlefield) among creatures you control including Kathril. Kathril will then get +1/+1 counters for each keyword added this way. By sacrificing, milling, or discarding cards like Zetalpa, Primal Dawn, Vampire Nighthawk, Questing Beast, we can get so many powerful abilities added to our creatures. Loading up Kathril with these abilities is usually the way to go, but can be placed on other creatures to make scary combinations. How about a Wurmcoil Engine with First Strike? Or an Avacyn, Angel of Hope with Hexproof? Stacking up multiple triggers with Helm of the Host is fun too, being able to spread the keywords to all of my creatures, making hasty, non-legendary tokens of Kathril.
