cestdesconneries: ramp to 4 mana (one of which is black) and play a Balustrade Spy / Undercity Informer which will mill the entire deck (no lands). 4x Narcomoeba will enter the battlefield, sac 3 to flashback Dread Return on Angel of Glory's Rise which will trigger the reanimation of Labratory Maniac and Snapcaster Mage (flashback Gitaxian Probe on yourself) triggering the alternate win-con on the maniac.

je parle francais, et ton 'username' est tres amusant ;)

March 19, 2013 11:29 p.m.

Merci!!! XD Je ne parle pas francais tres bien ' deux ans en france classe. You're the FIRST person to notice what my name means, i was beginning to think it was the wrong translation :) That's great!!!

But if you get Milled Out, i thought that killed you immediately? Or is it generally assumed that you loose because you would have to draw as soon as the turn ends?

MTG_Player says... #4

moi aussi, je suis en francais un. Google Translate is your friend :)

No, I won't lose because the angel brings back Labratory Maniac which means that I win.

March 19, 2013 11:46 p.m.

So you don't loose when you get milled out? Just when drawing? That's pretty Legit, and i thought a 2-Land Belcher deck was crazy...

I love the taboo-ness of this haha. Did you come up with it??? I haven't seen this deck before, and I'm addicted to combos..

Google Translate got me through High School!!! Haha. How sad is that?

Interesting on paper, boring in practice, you realise eventually, no one is going to play against you.

Schuesseled: this deck is great but it can still lose to a Force of Will.

Is Grinding Return a good name or is it too long and unwieldy? Glory's Return?

nice combo but this isn't new it was played in a starcitygames open a few weeks back and even had a deck tech for it. They decided to use Azami, Lady of Scrolls as an additional win con. that might be something to consider as well the deck tech can be found here for more references.

Very cool. Love this deck.

March 22, 2013 5:55 a.m.

Impressive. Actually. Nice. I normally really hate solitaire decks, but...this is pretty slick.

Rayenous says... #14

I would consider removing 1 probe, and adding 1-2 more snapcaster.... If they have a counter and didn't use it on the creature to prevent the milling, they can still stop the probe... 2-3 Snapcasters entering play = 2-3 probes they have to stop.

.... and as I'm typing this, I realize that they can simply counter the Dread Return.

Which BTW, ended up in a nearly perfect opening hand twice when testing... meaning that it wasn't in the GY after milling the deck... perhaps 2 of these would be a good idea?

So... is this more or less consistent than Spanish Inquisition and why?

March 24, 2013 1:29 a.m.

Schuesseled says... #19

A name? How about "Palestinian Re-animator"

March 24, 2013 2:19 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #20

How about a 4-of Biovisionary to reanimate, first turn four of Biovisionary FTW!

March 25, 2013 3:50 p.m.

YOu lose the turn you have to draw and can't. If the maniac is out, you win. Also, how do you ramp to 4 mana and play Baulstrade with no lands?

March 28, 2013 10:03 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #22

Chrome Mox , Lotus Petal , Elvish Spirit Guide and Simian Spirit Guide all make mana essentially for free, then he also has Dark Ritual and Cabal Ritual as back up

March 28, 2013 11:24 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #23

Hahaha Schuesseled you obviously watched Remy too.

March 28, 2013 11:27 p.m.

TrumpetsforKings this deck works a lot like Belcher, if you have access to YouTube, you should check out some videos.

Land in this deck would slow it down, and most likely just kill your combo worse than Ethersworn Canonist . The idea is to Combo out using mana-ramp spells (first of which is basically free to play) ( Simian Spirit Guide , Elvish Spirit Guide , Chrome Mox , Lotus Petal ) and then you use those to play other mana ramps, like a Lotus Petal to play Dark Ritual , then exile a Simian Spirit Guide or Elvish Spirit Guide , and you just got the 4 mana required to play one of the win conditions.

Make sense?

:D yes, he's a funny man.

March 29, 2013 12:11 a.m.

buffy is right, this is basically, no it is an unknown legacy combo deck called Breakfast Burrito. A flashier way to win is to use The Mimeoplasm + Lord of Extinction + Triskelion . Less moving parts and its more fulfilling.

MindAblaze says... #27

There's also a deck on here called Because belcher isn't original anymore. that uses The Mimeoplasm +Lord of Extinction +Murderous Redcap to do the same thing.

April 4, 2013 11:30 a.m.

MTG_Player says... #28

jminute14: Indeed, that combo is cooler but is a 3-carder and therefore is less consistent (albeit by a small percentage), but kudos to that person for being creative. And the biovisionary idea :) +1.

mtg_deckmaster: It was originally called the "unknown combo" in an article, and yes there is another derivation with a different combo.

SwiftDeath: Yep, this is sort of a copy of that, I prefer my inclusion of Snapcaster Mage and my anti-counter package.

April 4, 2013 8:07 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #29

That's the thing about The Mimeoplasm if you really wanted to be Janky you could renimate it copying Angel of Glory's Rise ...

How to lose a friend by turn 3

Had lots of fun playtesting against each other.

April 17, 2013 10:17 p.m.

203995014 says... #32

The main problem I see with this deck is that if you don't get the turn 1 win combo, you're pretty much screwed. You should do something about that. I don't know what.

April 17, 2013 10:23 p.m.

203995014 says... #33

Also, there are these unfortunate times when Snapcaster Mage , Angel of Glory's Rise , or Laboratory Maniac is in your hand. You should have 3 of each if you can find the space.

203995014: sac a Narcomoeba to flashback Cabal Therapy

April 17, 2013 10:39 p.m.

Nigrescence says... #35

Well, it looks fun, but Manamorphose doesn't actually get you anywhere. You need to swap it out for some actual ramp.

Try Rite of Flame or something else. You need that card slot to actually GAIN mana, whereas now it just cantrips. You already have Gitaxian Probe for the win condition cantrip.

April 17, 2013 10:42 p.m.

Nigrescence says... #36

Also, you need to find a way to discard Angel of Glory's Rise , Snapcaster Mage , and Laboratory Maniac if they're in your hand, or put in more than just one copy of each. I'd recommend finding a way to discard them, possibly a card that has you discard a card as the flashback cost.

April 17, 2013 10:49 p.m.

203995014 says... #37

But what if two of the 3 cards are in your hand? You can only sacrifice one Narcomoeba before you don't have enough for the flashback cost of Dread Return . Plus, Dread Return can end up in your hand.

April 18, 2013 3:58 p.m.

Nigrescence says... #38

That's why there needs to be a way to discard your own cards easier.Depending on a mulligan is just bad strategy.

April 18, 2013 11 p.m.

day48204 says... #39

Adding Lotus blooms would make this more consistent, but slower of course. Could maybe have them in sideboard, if the deck you're against doesn't have disruption.

April 20, 2013 9:22 p.m.

megawurmple says... #40

I like this deck quite a bit. However, I question the 42% turn 1 win rate. I've playtested about 4 or 5 times and only got the t1 win once.

Overall, cool idea. +1!

MagicalHacker says... #41

I think that you should switch the Goblin Charbelcher version to mainboard and this to sideboard.

These are the cards that would work well:

MagicalHacker says... #42

This deck was tough to critique because Tinker , Mana Crypt , and Sol Ring are all banned, and Lion's Eye Diamond doesn't work the way I want it to.

June 16, 2013 4:34 p.m.

Superllama12 says... #43

Very cool deck; however, I have been running into problems where I have one or two of the key cards stuck in my hand and cannot win, have you? If so, maybe consider running a singleton Phantasmagorian or similar free discard that works from your graveyard in order to avoid this. Overall, though, this is awesome, +1

June 27, 2013 1:45 p.m.

mistory says... #44

Most of the time you won't get one of your combo pieces in your hand: if you do, flashback Cabal Therapy , if you get 2 you're screwed. That should be very rare, however.

There is a version I have seen using 2 Bridge from Below and 3 Narcomoeba . That way, you can sac one Narcomoeba to flashback Cabal Therapy (on yourself and/or your opponent) and get an extra creature.

Nigrescence: 1. Gitaxian Probe isn't the wincon cantrip, Azami, Lady of Scrolls is.2. Cantrips help a deck like this because they essentially make it smaller, which is a good thing.3. You can't have red rituals in here since you need to produce black for Undercity Informer and Balustrade Spy . Manamorphose will let you get black.

September 11, 2013 6:11 p.m.

LiquidKid says... #45

What happens if you have 2 or more Narcomoeba s in your opening hand? Do you mulligan?

November 12, 2013 11:38 a.m.

I think people are forgetting you can sac Balustrade Spy after he hits the board to use the flashback of Cabal Therapy
