I like counters, Timmy, how 'bout you?

Though it's seen much tweaking and revising over the years ( Fangren Firstborn out, Kalonian Hydra in, for example), this is one of my longest lasting decks. The premise of the deck is pretty simple: load up your creatures with as many +1/+1 counters as you can, and hulk smash opponents. Vigor allows you to attack with impunity, as any creatures your opponents are foolish enough to throw in front of your assault will only make the horde stronger. Spike Weaver deals with the retaliation sure to be wrought by those who survive the first attack. Power Conduit is quite versatile in the deck, allowing for combat tricks (shifting a counter from a blocked creature to an unblocked, for instance), buffing Protean Hydra sans damage (remove a counter, place one back on him or another creature, he gets two back at EOT), "saving" counters from creatures hit by removal (even storing them as charge counters on the Conduit itself until another creature comes), or proliferating counters once one or more Doubling Season is on the field ( Spike Feeder and Spike Weaver can do this as well, though at the cost of 2 mana per counter doubled). Early versions of the deck struggled against flyers; Spidersilk Armor was my solution, and has the added benefit of allowing 0/0s to stay alive after all counters have been removed (useful for Fertilid especially). Forgotten Ancient is appealing because my favorite way to play is multiplayer free-for-all. Four Doubling Season s is likely overkill, but that's the point of the deck!

The last major revisement of this list involved Kalonian Hydra , and so cards released in more recent years haven't been evaluated .I'm currently tinkering with an updated list. I'm particularly excited by Pelt Collector (which has bonus synergy with Bramblewood Paragon ) and Rishkar, Peema Renegade (which may help with some of my mana issues early game).
