Double your life total 40 times per turn, without going infinite! I try to beat my high score each time I play. I use a simple no-calculator method for tracking my life total (see below). I only play this in multiplayer games. When I have only one opponent left, I put my life at 1 and let them finish the job. I like to emphasize the absurdity of my life total using big words (http://home.kpn.nl/vanadovv/BignumbyN.html).

Necropotence fuels this deck. I use Soul Warden , Confessor , and Children of Korlis to replenish my life. I use multiple Children of Korlis to double my life.

Here's a demonstration of the doubling effect:

  1. Pay 15 life to Necropotence .
  2. Sacrifice Children of Korlis to gain 15 life.
  3. Pay 15 life to Necropotence .
  4. Sacrifice Children of Korlis to gain 30 life (15 + 15).
  5. Pay 30 life to Necropotence .
  6. Sacrifice Children of Korlis to gain 60 life (15 + 15 + 30).

Here's how I abuse this synergy:

  1. Using Edgewalker , I cast Children of Korlis for free.
  2. I Pay all of my life except 1 to Necropotence , emptying my library.
  3. Sacrifice Children of Korlis to gain X life.
  4. Using Wheel of Sun and Moon , I put Children of Korlis on the bottom of my library.
  5. Using Gate to the Afterlife , I discard a card to the bottom of my library and draw Children of Korlis from the top of my library.
  6. Repeat

I have some personal goals for this deck:

  1. Don't go infinite.
  2. Don't get too mathy or take a long time comboing off.
  3. Don't win the game. This is not a serious deck.

Here are some card-specific notes:

  • Necropotence - It is perfectly legal to and necessary to pay more life that I have cards in my library. This card will exile the other combo pieces, so I use the next three cards to remedy this.
  • Wheel of Sun and Moon - Prevents cards from being exiled by Necropotence . Enables me to re-play cards multiple times.
  • Spellbook - This hinders my ability to gain life with Confessor . I play this later when possible.
  • Mirror of Fate - Recovers cards exiled by Necropotence or your opponents.
  • Soul Conduit is a negotiation tool: "If you do that, I'm going to give my life to somebody else" or "I'm going to put myself at 1 and trade life totals with you."

Here's how I track my life:

After I double my life a few times, I ignore the measly boosts from Soul Warden , Confessor , and Gate to the Afterlife . Every ten times that I double my life, I add three digits to my life total (IE, 1 x2 x2 x2 x2 x2 x2 x2 x2 x2 x2 = 1,024). To keep things simple, I track the left-most digit group (the numbers before the left-most comma) and the number of digits in the remaining groups. I use Necropotence to negate the trailing digits. For example, 8,001,299,393 would be 8 and 9 zeros.

More options:

I made a version of this deck using Inner Fire and Vizier of the Menagerie to double my life upwards of 800 times per turn. Unfortunately it required a lot more math, slowed the game down, and made the game less fun.

Azor's Gateway   or Selvala, Heart of the Wilds and Sunbond would let you gain X*(2^X) life, however, your life total would become so large that you couldn't track it. You might as well go infinite at that point.
