Introduction

This is my value creature-based Yidris build emphasizing on exploiting ETB effects via bouncing, recursion, and cascading. Originally, it started out as a typical spellslinger deck with every cascade card I can possibly include. I find that games are often clunky/commander dependant and can often fall apart if Yidris gets removed repeatedly. which prompt me to reevalute the deck direction. I finally decided to combine elements of my Animar, Soul of Elements and etb creatures for a direction less dependant on Yidris. This deck is now capable of functioning without Yidris by playing the traditional goodstuff creature value game while capitalizing on a creature storm combo win. If you like to exploit etb effects and value while assembling out-of-the-blue combos to close out the game, this deck is definitely made for you.

Win Conditions

This build usually just win through a series of commander damage or infinite combos. There are several ways to generate infinite mana and storm count which can be an instant win with Aetherflux Reservoir on the field. The infinite mana generated (with Deadeye Navigator/Cloudstone Curio in play) can be spent on Gonti, Lord of Luxury to exile my opponents' library while casting all their stuff:

• Palinchron/Peregrine Drake + Deadeye Navigator = Infinite mana and storm
• Deadeye Navigator/Phantasmal Image + Palinchron = Infinite mana and storm
• Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Combat Celebrant = Infinite hasty Combat Celebrant

Notable Exclusions

• Memory Jar: Goldfishing shows that I do not need another draw source
• Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker: My pet card but can't seem to find the space for him
• Prowler's Helm: I have more than enough evasion enablers in the deck
• Past in Flames/Mystic Retrieval/Yawgmoth's Will: This is a creature based storm deck rather than a spellslinger one
• Tooth and Nail: I have more than enough redundancies to include an "I win" card
• Seize the Day : Often a hit or miss depending if I have a shrouded effect on Yidris like Lightning Greaves, cards like World at War is better as it doesn't target

Footnotes

After playing Yidris for awhile, I noticed that the setup is more important than rushing him out. Getting at least a point of damage in with Yidris is key to converting my spells into potential cascade payouts. This deck has been winning out of nowhere and can spiral out of control without Yidris due to its inherent combo-centric nature.
