The idea behind this deck is to use Tocatli Honor Guard , Hushwing Gryff , or Torpor Orb to remove the ETB drawbacks of Hunted Horror , Plague Belcher , and Avatar of Discord .

This synergy also carries the double benefit of shutting down certain combos and other value creatures of your opponents.

At the very least, getting a 7/7 with trample and no drawbacks for feels really good.

And for some extra reach, I included one copy of Rite of Consumption as well. I'm tempted to add one or two more though.

Partly as a backup for Hunted Horror , you can also cast it, then cast Declaration in Stone targeting the tokens it makes. Of course, Declaration in Stone is also just a good card against Lingering Souls and whatnot.

I tried to keep the list budget, but I couldn't quite get the price under $100. Still not bad for a Modern deck though. Obviously, with unlimited money we could upgrade the mana base with fetches and shock lands, and we could maybe add a few Path to Exile , swap Inquisition of Kozilek for Thoughtseize , and so on. But this build should be good enough for testing if any of that would be worthwhile.
