This was my very first Commander deck after I bought the precon from a buddy. This deck has had the most cards float in and out of it, but the theme has never changed (there's really only one MAIN way to build Nekky, right?) He may not get me the most wins these days, but I don't think I will ever tear him apart. Aside from sentimental value, most of these cards wouldn't work in any other deck.

The Strategy

Step 1 = Hit your land drops and ramp

It' very important to get lots of mana early so you can start chaining wheels. Even if you have to play a wheel on an empty board early, don't worry, there's plenty more to come.

Step 2 = Play your draw/discard pains and start building your hand with extra draw

The all-important setup step. Once you begin, you'll probably tap out each turn unless you see an opponent getting ready to win.

Step 3 = Wheel as needed

Enjoy drawing to victory as you (hopefully) chain or combo your way to the win.

The Infinite Combos

Mind Over Matter + Temple Bell / Otherworld Atlas = Mill the table if you are up on cards

Above combo plus any draw damage = Ping the table

Bloodchief Ascension / Duskmantle Guildmage + Mindcrank = Mill while pinging the table and gaining life

Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind + Ophidian Eye / Curiosity / Mind Over Matter / Helm of the Ghastlord

The Win Cons

1) Infect

2) Some combination of draw and/or discard damage

3) Mill

The Nut Draw

One of a few ways to get a table wide infect win turn 3:

Turn 1 = Land, Sol Ring , any signet or Fellwar Stone

Turn 2 = Land, Nekusar, the Mindrazer

Turn 3 = Land, Phyresis /Glistening Soul, any 3 mana wheel into Winds of Change

Alternatives for Budget/Non-budget

If you're going cheap:

Pretty much everything in this deck over a couple of bucks can be replaced, just with a loss of speed. The theme remains the same. Switching out the nonbasic lands for basics is also a big moneysaver. The deck can easily be done for under $100.

If money is no object: Mana, mana, mana. Buffing up the lands and the mana rocks to make it as fast as possible is the biggest need. Better counterspells is really the only other area you could sink money in.
