HUG me in the LAND of Ft. PILLOW

Commander / EDH Group Hug Lands Pillow Fort RGWU

Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis allow for a "group hug" style deck where everyone draws extra cards. Rites of Flourishing , Temple Bell , and Fevered Visions keep the cards coming. I use Elixir of Immortality to keep me from decking out if that game goes long. I just like watching people play their decks and the interesting board states that arise from all the craziness; Fevered Visions encourages everyone to play their extra cards.

The 2/8 stats are set up nicely for a defensive deck so I went with some "pillow fort" style play with propanganda, Baird, Steward of Argive , Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs , Windborn Muse , Sphere of Safety , Sandwurm Convergence , Ghostly Prison , and Collective Restraint making it a mana investment to attack me while Edric, Spymaster of Trest and Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist encourage people to attack each other instead of me.

Comeuppance , Deflecting Palm , Angel of the Dire Hour and Selfless Squire keep damage away from my face and allow me to hit back just as hard.

Getting to play extra lands each of my turns lead me to the landfall mechanic; which is where this deck really starts to shine. It only takes a few powerful landfall cards to make a lot of difference and with my ability to get extra lands I can usually get a few triggers before anyone can do anything. Omnath, Locus of Rage , Rampaging Baloths , Vinelasher Kudzu , Felidar Retreat as well the retreats Retreat to Coralhelm , Retreat to Emeria , Retreat to Kazandu are the main finishers in the deck.

Of course there is always Treacherous Terrain , The Locust God , Psychosis Crawler , Sandwurm Convergence , Mind's Dilation , and Primeval Bounty that can also help me close out the game.

Thoughts:

The commander looks innocent and people expect a group hug style with this commander. Even after multiple times playing it with the same group they are often surprised by how quickly it can close out a game once it has stabilized.

I noticed that most decks that play group hug usually try to win with either Approach of the Second Sun , Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or Laboratory Maniac if that is your jam go ahead an just add those cards plus Mind Over Matter to this list (remove Mind's Dilation , Retreat to Emeria , Retreat to Kazandu and Elixir of Immortality ) to combo win with Temple Bell .
