How Dragons are Meant to be

Commander / EDH

Dragons? Yes. Big dragons? Yes. Dragons with absurdly high mana cost? Yes.

Hello, and welcome to how Dragons are meant to be. Here, we take the most absurdly powerful dragons and shove them into a mono-red engine. We feature cards like Conjurer's Closet to save our creatures from being destroyed. Caged Sun + Gauntlet of Might + Gauntlet of Power gives us enough mana that our deck's commander is almost useless, and Extraplanar Lens only furthers our strength.

Speaking of our Commander; Zirilan of the Claw can cheat us out any dragon we want. This can not only start the game off with explosive damage, but combined with Thousand-Year Elixir can be a powerful wincon. Dragons like Dragon Tyrant, Thundermaw Hellkite , Scourge of the Throne, Scourge of Valkas, and Spawn of Thraxes are going to be your main cards to send on a final blast to end your opponents. They can cause so much damage that it's to be a sure victory.

However, our Dragons are not without their share of wisdom. Balefire Dragon is a virtual targeted Wrath, Siege Dragon can wipe tokens off the field, and Thunder Dragon shocks the opposition. And, since most of our dragons are kicking a ETB, we have cards that help them find their max potential. Warstorm Surge and Pandemonium are just good due to dragons high base power/toughness, and can definitely target down a player or creature. Dragon Tempest fires off based on the number of dragons we have, similar to Scourge of Valkas, and when paired the two can deal massive pokes. Combined with Dictate of the Twin Gods or Gratuitous Violence the damage gets out of hand quickly. And the newest card in our deck Panharmonicon is a godlike card that doubles our ETB, and break the board quickly.

And no good dragon is without his or her lair. Citadel of Pain is a card that was relevant back when Mana Burn was a thing, but now it just punishes those blue-players and can force counters to fizzle. This can also be combined with Mana Geyser for a virtually infinite amount of red-mana in 4 player.

Dragonstorm and Rage Reflection have been replaced with Tel-Jilad Stylus and Sundial of the Infinite in an attempt to actually save our dragons, and to lower the 4.5 average CMC.
