Nick: “Dad, were you ever popular in school?”
Wayne: “You bet. I was captain of the astronomy team three years in a row. We were happenin' guys.”
DECK DESIGN:
Honey, I blew up the Bogle is one of the budget decks I built based on
Squandered Resources. I had to make a few adjustments for cards I didn't have, or wasn't able to get a hold of. The result is a fairly quick paced aura deck that packs a hard punch.
SYNERGY:
The deck plays as a Hybrid Aggro/Control deck, utilizing spells such as
Brainstorm &
Preordain to try to draw into our combo pieces. Use
Counterspell and
Dismember to slow the opponent, and
Snap in case of emergency. The deck's true threat comes from the cards
Academy Researchers, who allow a free aura from your hand, or
Arcanum Wings which we can use to swap for a more powerful aura in our hands.
The aura's I play are Mythic Proportions for sheer damage, and Elder Mastery for a more controlling approach. Invisible Stalker and Latch Seeker are fantastic due to the fact they are unblockable, while Invisible Stalker and Slippery Bogle are more difficult to get rid of due to hexproof. Iridescent Drake works in a pinch if you have lost a major enchantment or been milled/discarded during the game.
SIDEBOARD:
I built this as a casual “fun” legacy deck, and have never put a sideboard together for it.
BUDGET:
I build every deck under a $100 budget, to be affordable for most casual players. While this removes many of the higher priced and sought after cards from my potential pool, it also forces me to be creative and look into a wider scope of cards. Occasionally I have a deck that exceeds this amount, either due to price inflation over time, or getting a few lucky pulls in packs that I opted to keep, and in those rare cases, I will attempt to annotate replacement options that would bring the deck back in line with this budget.
FEEDBACK:
The Main card I want to improve this deck is the amazing
Eldrazi Conscription which can seal a game up quite quickly. They are on my wishlist!
