Maybe add Trophy Mage as another artifact tutor with the plus of being a body?

This deck looks sweet by the way!

Currently working on my own combo deck that is disguised as a pillow fort/group hug deck... this definitely gave me some interesting ideas

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your commander doesn't create additional combat steps. You can't attack more than once per turn without some effect allowing you to like Aggravated Assault.... which are all red so you may be out of luck with Ith.

Oh nevermind...i see just one attack lots of tapping and untapping...

usaDiabetic: Trophy Mage doesn't get me much with the deck in its current state. If I did run it, I'd need to find a good cut for it, as 2 of 3 targets are, admittedly, excellent targets. Any suggested cuts?

Rzepkanut: It's cool. About half of all players that see this go through that same thought process.

ahhh yup that's my fault... every time I read Trophy Mage, I read it as CMC 3 or less, not a hard 3. if anything maybe the Silver Myr but that's a synergy card for your deck I'm guessing

Maze of Ith is your commander's ability on a land.

Datestamp says... #7

jamesfiek True, but it doesn't help me with my infinite combos, as I need a creature to manage it. It would be fun with Willbreaker on the board, but as noted in the description, it's more or less a flavor card.

Any additional adds or cuts?

I would cut dreamscape artist, mangara of corondor, imprisoned in the moon, and mystic remora. The deck is very fun to play. After several dozen play tests, I noticed that these cards kept slowing down the tempo of the deck. Also, as you play and you approach the ability to go infinite, these cards interfere with that. I run a dimir deck that uses some of the same combos you have, and Diviner's Wand will likely work well in here since you have wizards and the potential for infinite mana and can draw infinitely until you find what you need.

Why would I cut Mystic Remora instead of Rhystic Study? Low CMC combined with a high cost to negate the draw seems pretty good. Imprisoned in the Moon is useful removal, as is Mangara of Corondor, but I'm willing to hear alternatives. Mangara can also act as a pseudo wincon via removing all of their permanents when damage and mill can't get through. I agree with cutting Dreamscape Artist. Diviner's Wand is an interesting choice that I'll have to explore. Other suggestions?

Very cool, nice to see such a unique build this day and age. I don't recall seeing any hand size stuff, Reliquary Tower, Thought Vessel, Venser's Journal are all decent. I think with Lab Maniac it's nice to have something that shuffles your library back in so you don't get backdoored by an uncounterable removal spell, maybe just an Elixir of Immortality. He's pricey but Snapcaster Mage could do some work in a shell like this I'd think. Either way, looks fun! +1

RothMcVeCards: I've taken another look at Diviner's Wand and have decided to run it. It'll be an interesting boon, as it'll enable more interaction when I have infinite mana but nothing to do with it. Imprisoned in the Moon has become situational in my meta and will be removed. I am still curious about your take on Mystic Remora vs Rhystic Study.

Jimmy_Chinchila: Of the suggested options, I will mainboard Thought Vessel and will think on Elixir of Immortality for a while. Snapcaster Mage is a bit out of my price range for this deck at the moment, but would do some serious work here and will be added if and when I get one.

SufferFromEDHD: I dig your username. While Basilisk Collar would be fun to equip to a pinger to give me some defense against their creatures, it seems like a "win more" card. Any other adds or cuts?

Why not Pull from Eternity to help against exile affects?

October 18, 2017 8:22 p.m.

Datestamp says... #14

It's already been in my Maybeboard for a while. It's more of a niche situation than a regular problem. I wouldn't mainboard it unless I knew the meta was white-heavy and exile-heavy.

yungxak,

Very original deck. I am curious though, how often do you manage to pull off a win with the Ith, High Arcanist and Illusionist's Bracers combo? Your play group must know by now that these two must never be on the board at the same time :)

Thanks, NV_1980. They each got wise to it after losing to in multi-player games. The bracers rarely eat removal, but my poor creatures, especially Ith, have an unfortunate habit of dying before they can attack. My backup creatures, Aphetto Alchemist and Tidewater Minion, seem to still be under the radar. Lately I've used LabMan combos to bait out countermagic to give my game plan some breathing room, but that's felt inefficient.

See anything you'd consider cutting or swapping?

Maybe a Grand Abolisher to protect your combo? At the very least it baits out a counter, and if it hits the field, it protects your combo for that turn, and potentially for the whole game

PurpleGame0 An excellent suggestion. What would you cut? Nimble Obstructionist (don't know why it won't tag) and Glaring Spotlight seem like viable cuts to me. Are there any others that look like good cuts to you?

Maybe a Kira, Great Glass-Spinner over Nimble Obstructionist to protect your combo?

Since you're running Crackdown Construct ...why not add Lightning Greaves or Shuko ? Attach to Crackdown for 0, triggering Crackdown's +1 +1 trigger; attach to another creature for 0, re-attach to Crackdown again for 0 for another +1 +1 counter...on and on and on for an infinitely large body.

This looks like such a fun deck to play! I definitely recommend running that Unbender Tine in your Maybeboard. One of my absolute favorite cards. And not only is it perfectly on-theme here, it ends up super useful every game I draw it in. And absolute worst-case scenario, it's another mana rock. But it can untap Ancient Tomb for 4 colorless mana per turn, Rogue's Passage for two unblockable creatures each turn, or a whole host of other fun little uses that I discover every time I play it.

The reason I suggest cutting the Mystic Remora is because it has a cumulative upkeep. If you play that turn one, it means you have to devote every land you drop for the rest of the game to the remora. It's good if you have infinite mana available, but a burden otherwise. Also it's dangerous, because an opponent with a proliferate deck can increase the age counters, which may lead to you losing it after wasting multiple turns dumping mana into it to keep it alive.

Driemer84 says... #25

RothMcVeCards Generally Remora isn't a turn one play. Upkeep aside, most people aren't going to have a lot of non-creature turn one plays. Remora is a great way to fill your hand in the mid to late game when your opponents have established mana bases and powerful spells to cast that will trigger Remora. They'll usually have left over mana to pay the one on Rhystic Study at this point, but not 4 for Remora. Playing it later in the game also solves the upkeep problem. I also wouldn't avoid the card just because you may run into a proliferate deck, that seems like a "dies to doomblade" argument, but worse.
